    Ignore, + KEEP IGNORING
They will buy your private data from DVLA and send a series of harassment letters including fake solicitors and fake debt collectors letters all full of completely and utterly empty threats of non existent court action.
From a LEGAL point of view, what you have been given is an
"invitation to pay a private invoice" it is LEGAL in the UK to Invoice any citizen and ask them to pay your invoice, you could do it with your next door neighbour for leaving his cat out, I suggest £120.
What is also legal is your right to reject the invitation and not to enter in to any further correspondence with the issuer of this unsolicited invoice.
If they think you actually owe them the money, they have to apply to court before any Debt exists, however as the courts have judged that these invoices are actually penalties which can not be enforced in court, they wont be doing that.
    So, Ignore :
Ignore all silly letters including the fake solicitors letters and fake debt collectors + remember the "appeal" is just a scam to avoid paying for your details:
Now for the hard bit... Learn what IGNORE actually means

It's not a fine, ignore it. But you need to do a bit of reading to be ready for the scary letters, which you also file in a drawer marked 'ignore, scam'!

Here's the first page of the current forum posts, almost all about private parking co's (known as PPCs to us):

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

Read 'PPC letters' at the top, for your preview of the rubbish they will send to the registered keeper. And read 'welcome, please read before posting' (LOL!) to see the advice and to click on the must-see Watchdog link.

You will soon understand why this is no 'parking ticket'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Ignore UKPAO.

They've actually attempted court twice - once about 2 years ago and again only about a month ago.

Steve never turns up. I can only assume he drives to the court, craps himself in the car park and drives back home.

Maybe next time he will bring his Pampers?

I have today received a parking charge of £90 for over-staying in my gym car park which is now managed by Parking Eye. I've read most of the postings on this forum, but none seem the same as my situation, so I need some clarification whether I can still ignore the ticket.
Since April the gym car park has had cameras installed which film you enter and leave and there are also bright yellow (clearly visible) signs up in the car park stating that you only have 3 hours parking and must sign in at the gym or you will get a £90 fine. When you enter the gym you have to enter your car registration into a macchine on the reception desk. Does this mean I have 'entered a contract' with the parking company??

I pay monthly gym fees but hardly ever use the gym due to long working hours etc, but last week I used it for the first time in about a month. I entered my registration number into the machine and noted the time on the clock behind the reception desk. It said 2.40pm, so I calculated I had til 5.40pm and made a mental note to leave the gym at 5.30 so as to get back to my car in time.

Because I hadn't been to the gym for awhile, I wanted to make the most of it and do a thorough workout followed by a sauna and steam etc. so knew I would need the 3 hours (I could have done with more time!). All the time back in the changing rooms I was checking the time on mobile and left a few minutes later than planned at 5.32pm. But to my horror as I passed reception the clock said 5.40pm and then I remembered that for some reason the gym clock has always been ahead of time! But as I had noted the time on that clock when I logged in, then I only had 3 hours from that (wrong) clock, so I had effectively overstayed the 3 hours!

So sure enough I have now got the fine and if I don't pay in 7 days it goes up to £120! My question is, do I have to pay as I signed in my car registration details at the gym, so this might be taken as my agreement to a contract of some sort? Also, will the gym penalise me if I refuse to pay, by cancelling my membership or adding the parking fine to my direct debit? (are they allowed to do this?) Any help will be much appreciated as I just can't afford to pay this fine and don't see why I should, when I pay expensive monthly gym fees and was told when I joined the gym in 2000 that there would never be any parking charges imposed. (though I didn't get this in writing)

Enough said, the fact it's a private parking co. is all we need to know. IGNORE THEM.

None of that makes any difference.

Here's the first page of the current forum posts, almost all about private parking co's (known as PPCs to us). Did you realise how much current info is here on MSE on every subject, there's a whole new page of 'PPC scam' posts every single day. It's not just this thread on the subject, when you say you have read the postings did you only mean on this tiny thread, one of thousands:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

Read the permanent sticky thread 'PPC letters' at the top, for your preview of the rubbish they will send to the registered keeper. And read 'welcome, please read before posting' (LOL!) to see the advice and to click on the must-see Watchdog link. Then just choose any other lower down threads at random, read any which are not about real Council PCNs.

You will soon understand why this is no 'parking ticket' and it's not connected to your gym membership in any way. Parking Eye are completely separate and are scammers, read up on the whole con.

Simple solution is to vote with your feet and cancel your gym membership on grounds of harassment by 3rd party agents. I wouldn't even enter my registration number into the machine. Just ignore Parking Spy, they rarely do court (and most times they lose)

If you have a contract with the gym you are entitled to use the gym for any period you want, they cant limit it to 3 hours a day! Don't contact Parking Spy but tell the gym to get it cancelled, or they can cancel your contract.
