Do you get like a drag effect from the other vehicle and save on diesel?

I tried this the other day , but the guy in front kept breaking for no reason which made it difficult to stay close.

In theory, yes. In reality the savings are negligible and it is a f**king !!!!!! thing to do. No wonder the other driver was on his brakes.

Surely if the guy in front brakes, you actually get closer... thus increasing the money you save. ;)

Of course the greatest saving is made if you can get the guy in front to actually tow you.
  • Is this thread a wind up? Seriously? Nurse!?

You were slip streaming a random person on a motorway in an attempt to reduce the drag coefficient and save fuel? You have any idea how dangerous that is? Obviously not, if you did it.

I suppose your fuel bill goes to zero if you're in jail for dangerous driving or in a grave for terminal dangerous driving.

Less than 2 seconds behind the car in front is madness. 4 seconds is better.

I would have thought the best saving would be to brake heavily when tailgated by a HGV, that way you can hopefully end up under his front bumper for the rest of the journey. Costs stay right down.

Your family also saves on funeral costs as well, as they won't need a coffin, because the ambulance service have had to use a sponge to pick you up and out of your car, so they can just pop you straight into an urn, or an old pickled onion jar if they want to save further costs :D

You will get used to Todd, bless the little tyke, he lives in a fantasy world as most primary school children do, he often posts thing when he gets home from school and uses his big brothers computer, but is usually off the computer when his mummy gets home and pops him off to bed before the news starts at 6pm.

Its just with diesel being so expensive I try anything.

I also do that going down hill in neutral thing , which is supposed to help.

re: the op | as long as the person in front maintains a constant speed on the mway , and does not keep breaking for no reason, I think its certainly worth trying
