HSBC is so big its hard to say, it might be near the top of its usual range.

BP also is massive, as its not just usa based it seems undervalued but criminal charges would at least double their costs to date

Hold off with BP for a while. There will be a hearing into the Gulf disaster soon and if they are found guilty they have to pay around £10 billion in fines. That could decrease share value big time.

Do we know when hearing is?
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

They deciding where to hold it, Texas or Louisiana It'll be years yet and no idea of timing or details on criminal liability. Exxon settled their spill damages just a couple years ago

    Hi All,

I've been follwing some of the forums here with interest but never plucked up the courage to actually start investing...
So i have looking in to X-O as a share dealing service and what to start having a play around with buying and selling... (maybe with £1000)
    Thinking of starting with BP...

What do you all think of X-O

    Any pros and cons?
I just need a simple buy and sell service and some where i can track share prices...

Basic really - i have read the thread on basics from Martin but would be good to get advice on X-O or other services.

I realise X-O offer a UK only service but i guess the LSE is quite wider ranging
Also is a execution only account...does that really matter? maybe im missing the point whats the consequence of this?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi all!

Does anyone have some thoughts/opinions on RBS for the future? Given Gov't owned and share price is fraction of what it was 2-3 years ago (~650p) seems a good opportunity for a long-term hold.

True share price has dropped for a reason. At least the majority of it's toxic debt is out in the open and will be harshly scrutinized by both Gov't and public.

Look at the market cap not the share price, rbs printed so many new share certificates to sell, the share price became 10p for a good reason. Unless every bad debt came good I dont think 650 or even half that is possible ever again, 100 is unlikely

I have some money available that I would like to use to purchase shares in a single company (that I have in mind).

What is the best way / company / account to process a single trade and hold a single commodity in my portfolio?

I use the Motley Fool service , £10.00 per trade + stamp duty, no annual fee, had no problems with it.
