Because you didn't properly read what you were installing and blindly accepted the default settings? (Which may explain why you're in your current situation).
Once you've got things sorted, I'd suggest installing an application that will remove default settings from installers and warn you when you're trying to install something iffy. Unchecky is such an application.0 -

I did read it - it said FREE DOWNLOAD - do I now have to remove it or how can I change it? if so how?0 -
I think MWB have removed the option to install the free version for day 1, i think you have to do the trial first then downgrade to the free version.
(or do some trickery with the system clock )
to start in safe mode hit windows key, type msconfig and press enter, in the boot tab you can tick a box for a safe boot, then restart0 -

This will download it directly. After downloading right-click it and Run as adminsitator
On clicking on this link it said "Windows Smart Screen can not run"
What now?
Edit: run again - nowhere does it say "run as an administrator" clicked on it said could not find any trace of AVG.
Where do i right click?0 -
Open Windows Explorer
Navigate to where you downloaded the exe file
Right click ON the exe file and select Run as administrator
If necessary, right click on the link (in post #20 in this forum) and choose Save link as (or however your browser shows it - might be Save target as) and save the file to your PC. Then follow the instructions above to run as admin.0 -
