KK that's super news, I hope it all works out well.

All is calm and all is quiet! Sigh...blissful.

peaceful night after a boohoo moment when GN decided she wanted to go home. Sorted that out and she stayed. I was awake early , chatted with girls on FaceTime and watched Casualty then snoozed for an hour on sofa before peace and quiet were shattered.

Fabulous dog walk. Met friends and we walked with their dogs. Much Labrador-ness (3 of them) and 2 daft dogs and one much more sedate and elderly one. Nice chit chat .

A bit of decorating of the Christmas variety. Trees are up. Big one will remain naked until DD1 decorates it.GN helped with tall, skinny tree which I normally do in turquoise however I decided later to change it to red as that's what rest of dining room is! GN decorated the wee tree that I'd put in DD1's room but took the red off that ( was definitely going to redecorate it anyway!) and replaced it with turquoise...I obviously had too much time on my hands!

I may have poked my eye with a tree branch. Blooming sore! GN helped me by getting a wet towel for me.

My friend popped in for an hour and a couple of cups of tea and much chatting which was nice. Maybe that's who GN gets it from...me!

She went home. Sheer blissful silence. Doggy walk and foraged some ivy for my wicker star hanging on front door. Sat on doorstep and wound it round.

Phone chat whilst tidying, putting tea on and moving decorations. Multi tasking!

Quick pleasures for today as I've gone all tired!

    1) A lie in!

    2) Bigger son had a good time last night - meet up was cancelled so he went back to his friend's house until 4am and was treated like one of the family (all the family were there, for some reason). He's done some work towards The Interview on Tuesday and we will be buying interview clothes tomorrow.

    3) Hens OK and one egg! Good old Barbara.

    4) Cleaned living room today.

    5) Phoned my school friend about tomorrow. Cancelled the taxi for tomorrow too, though did not tell the company why. Am absolutely dreading going into school and having to demand a meeting. :-/ I've actually never met any of the senior members of staff as smaller son has never done anything that wrong! (Unlike bigger son where we're on first name terms - but a different school).

    6) Smaller son wanted to check over the Christmas decorations and test the lights so I got them out of the airing cupboard. Bigger son made mince pies.

    7) I enjoyed watching the Kirsty Allsopp Christmas series on repeat this afternoon and also I'm a Celebrity this evening.

It's going to be quite a week! (Well, quite a Monday and Tuesday).

ETA - well done on the house, Kittikins!

Frith Good luck with school meeting. If the HT is not available, ask to speak to the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead). The escort could be causing your son psychological harm. They will have to respond immediately.

    1. Tree decorated in red and gold this year. I forgot we had bought lots of gold baubles in the sale last January. Very festive.

    2. Trip to next town to collect computer. Free repair!!!:j Had a posh hot chocolate and a wander around the beautiful shops. Bought some Christmas serviettes.

    3. Sausage and mash for tea. With lots of veg and onion gravy:j

    4. Found DS2 decorations he has made in woodwork classes at B & Q when he was about 9 or 10.

    5. Sunday night dread of work on Monday. Only 3 weeks till the hols. :o

    Have a great day :)

Frith - le 4 d!cembre is the Saint's day for all Barbara's :-))) - know, therefore, that the world's entire Barbarian hordes, wherever they may be, are with you today, not just she and we.
You have every reason to celebrate. Enjoy Barbara's especially laid, super protein, superboost, supercharged, go-getter brekkie fuel for today's Mission P45.
You're not England in Oz for the (blown away)Ashes. That's person P45, who has thrown herself on her own job pyre.

Pk - &'s NZ childhood again. November, summer coming. Over to Nana and Poppa's, always, for mincemeat making. Out comes big Spong mincer, hefty job. Assembled. Clamped to big old kitchen table edge. Preserving pan below. &'s excited, special job, turning the big handle as crates of dried fruit, almonds, apples, fresh picked and previous year's candied citrus are all churned through. Poppa forces it down from on top. Nana adds in suet, whisky, brandy. More wishes with big stirs. Wonderful glorious stuff. As years go by, & no longer has to stand on one of those emptied dried fruit crates to reach the top of that handle-turning circle. It's as exciting as reaching another button on Nana's dress or blouse in height:-)

    Kk - wonderful news.

    1. Unbroken night's sleep! Radio is always on, was awaiting Cabin Pressure, r4x - Newcastle, vjm) Knew nothing 'til nearly 6bells, so un&! Blame lurgy

    2. Porridge needed, made, consumed. Wickets fell stupidly during. Empty bowl still alongside as & writes from bed+mob., with fresh hwb. Heavy red-eye Lurgy not really budging. Unsure what else can be tried as &'s lifestyle, diet, is healthy anyway. Don't want to clog up surgery.

    3. Still no glasses, not an osp.. Call was update for likely 1st pr tmrw, so>town of horse for further re-grinding check. Struggled with some hymn print in gloom and feel reading strain, not ideal.

    4. Hearing stand-in vicar's voice, heard same lurgy. Loads going about. Made it later to crimbo chorale concert and so glad. Mulled wine afterwards helped))) 1st mince pie, too.

    5. Hit pitch dark+torch+thermos, pre-6am Trumpy, not freezing fortunately. Let's hope this and that and that and that depart from Spits on Thursday. Spits/Trumpy M had not spotted an old,, folding cutting table & bought, great one-off thing, quirky provenance/markings. M does pics for market postcards. Table shot b/g will work well.

    Stopping now, struggle sans lunettes.
Postscript: unfortunately, toxic neighbour's chiennerie ramped right up last week. Enzed friends on receiving end. Frith, fired up by your school success later today, pitch some boiling tar Fennywards, ok? Will involve police if more 'damage', obstruction, abuse, etc occur.

    1. Chrissy decs up even though we were all shattered and DH was feeling ill. I had a sneaky Guinness whilst we did them. Watched a completely trashy movie called A Christmas Prince but it was right up DD's (9yo) street and DH didn't mind so everyone was happy :)
    2. No cooking tonight! Carrot soup and marmite butties for supper after we do our 10k time trials at running club tonight. That's if DH doesn't work late.
    3. Actually didn't dread work today because I feel so on top of things. This is a BIG step.
    4. DD loved my carrot soup last night. She's been quite fussy lately so it made me happy.
    5. Only three weeks until 10 glorious days off, that don't count as annual leave. Also lovely things to look forward to like team lunch next week (paid for by company). Our team is made up of three of us. A director, a partner head of and little old me. We're all ladies and get on well so I love our quarterly team days. Also got Xmas party next Thursday which is going to be super fancy, and work are paying for taxis. Generally lots of fun free stuff :)
    6. Got DDs Xmas pressie sorted - unexpectedly - on Saturday. She was signing carols at a local retirement home and I nipped into a nearby piano shop and came out having dropped £500 on a lovely Yamaha Clavinova. Would love to replace the huge clunky 19th century piano with a smaller, streamlined real piano but with a woodburner, plans to move, a small house and limited budget for tuning and servicing it seemed like the best idea, for now.

:j to Kittikins on the fab house news
All strength to Frith and her sorting of toxic person
Loved, loved the mincemeat memories &

    Weekend pleasures,

Still getting to yard at same time in the mornings but Lulu now goes out in dark, heading towards shortest day.

My new muckboots, half the price of some prestige wellies sported by other owners but my feet are toasty and dry, no wish for labels thank you.

Certain emporium's cherry liquors, chocolate, fruit and alcohol, what's not to like!

Radio also on in our boudoir &, TMS, but depressing news and Lainey remembers very little as wanted sleep more!

The Light up a Life service at the hospice that so beautifully cared for darling Mum, brass band, carols and eloquent readings, tears inevitably flowed but were carthatic.

The gorgeous full moon rising in a cloudy sky on the way home, checked again later and the sky had cleared, garden was light enough to see dog without usual torch.

Cheering on the puffin in Blue Planet as he guarded his fish from highwayman Skua!
  • Estate Agents. Not quite the same league as social workers and the ilk! But we only use them sparingly for our own good!

5 Well fested with the snorker fest last day. Served with creamy mash. Was guzzled to think I could have a selection of snorkers, but inn the pan that got mixed up! Free for all! As I gorged too much on the snorker fest, I had no room for the delights of angel! As for the lunch box, it does not contail cake sof Jaffa this week! Not buying in packs of ten thank you!

4 Bring them home, more Overton up the order and get the village cricketers inn! Sore Ted! Not a happy BoP! That means that a ruff BoP and BoPsie will end up with no housekeeping again!

3 After that, what can I say! Watched another flick on the net called Before we go! Had that detective Showstrings daughter in it! Very good film! Gals will need tissues!

2 Night BoP is icing his xmas cake! Lime marmalade with single malt this year to bind the marzipan!

BoPsie’s housekeeping looks like it could …

    Hello!

Lovely walk with Haggis' ladies! Good chats with the doggies mummies!

A bit of pottering , a bit of supermarket.

    Walked into town (40 minutes).

In and out in 5 minuets to be re-registered at GP. Glad I've only put about 2lbs on ( surprisingly ) since I moved. Obviously dog walking balances overeating out!

DD2's graduation dinner. Another big event missed. Her friends dad did the honours for the Father/ Daughter dance. Much sobbing from me. She looked stunning.

Got a nice long top for £3 in charity shop and a bargainous and perfect set of curtains for DS room for the grand sum of £1.50! Would have been cheap at £3 but they had an extra 50% off!

Walked in but all downhill so took bus back. An older lady (85) asked me where to get off and I told her that's where I was going so would see her right. Ended up doing a bit of a detour and walked her home. It was dark. She didn't know where she was. Not confused. But she'd taken the earlier bus but the windows were so dirty she'd missed her stop and had ended back in town. We had a good chat and I'm glad I was there to help her home.

    Had RTC pizza for tea.

    Pleasures for last few days

    1. puppy spaying went well and she is recovering well...
I will not mention the two cones of shame she has destroyed in 2 days and the door & radiator she has chewed as we can no longer use her crate with the cone of shame attached to her neck !!

    2. went to see a friend on saturday afternoon and had a good (moan) chat and a Baileys :p

    3. DS has not been home for 3 days.
(He's staying with "a friend" Think he has a new gf but I am not allowed to know :( and I am left looking after the puppy he "could not live without" just a few months ago)

    4. diabetes test results came back and Hba1c has gone down. Not sure how... must be the new tablets :rotfl:

    5. have written my Christmas cards, just need to send them second class. A real chore this year but I want to stay in touch with the many family members I don't see very often.
