    Hi,

    Hopefully someone can help me with this. i was wondering why in the last 5 years has Patagonia Gold been over 40 pence, and is now 1.38 pence?

    Any help much appreciated.

    I don't know. Have you thought of actually investigating and looking at the RNSs for the last 5 years?

    If I had to guess I might think the factors may have had an impact:
    1. Reduction in the gold price
    2. Loss of appetite for gold shares from investors
    3. PGD not hitting their output targets
    4. PGD not producing sufficient gold to reduce investment risk
    5. The need for a RI to support ongoing opperations (which will dilute the value PDG per share)

    Dont look at price, look at market cap. Its shown on the google view for that share and others. Companies always issue shares, sometimes tons of them and sometimes its bonds they issue and the share value goes to the bond.

    Centricia just issued about 9% of their company in additional shares, to pay off bonds. not sure if that was a good move or not but makes the price look bad alone

    Market makers can manipulate the spread so that buys show as sells and vice-versa. The current stock exchange spread rule misleads investors and needs changing to protect investors.

    Please Google "Market Maker Manipulation Petition" to access this petition and help put a stop to this dishonest practice by sharing the website on your social media.

    Offer sent out a few hours ago from halifax :
    On Wednesday 23rd November between 12:15pm and 2:15pm, we’re reducing our online dealing commission for UK shares to £3.95, a discount of £8.55 per trade.
    Stamp Duty charges of 0.5% still apply and if your TradePlan executes during the offer period, the usual charges apply too. Fund trades are excluded from the reduced dealing commission offer.
    The same reduction also applies to any online purchases or sales you make on international stocks. So between 8am and 9pm today, your online dealing commission will only be £3.95 per trade for each transaction. Foreign exchange rates of 1.25% apply either side of the available exchange rate.

    A few hours of discount every month or so isn't really helpful to me. I want to buy and sell when the price is favourable, not when the discount is available.

    Their normal commission is quite high and they've never shown any interest in a discount for frequent investors when I've asked them. Si I'm gradually migrating across to Interactive investor as their commission is a bit cheaper but after a few trades each month it's heavily discounted.

    Unfortunately, one of my Halifax accounts is a stocks and shares ISA so the cost of moving those shares out is prohibitive.

    Most brokers used to be happy to attract new custom, and to pay your exit fees, if any, into the bargain. Or have those days gone?

    Thanks. Halifax never alert me to these offers. I do find the offers useful when for example I want sell my shares an A and reinvest in B. Doesn't really matter when you do this type of transaction.

    I'll ask the question but the last time I checked you couldn't transfers shares from isa to isa - you have to effectively sell them in one and rebuy them in the other, incurring commission and stamp duty.

    I'd be delighted if someone can tell me I'm wrong!
