I recently won a holiday to LA where there were over 29,000 individual entries and it was a daily so well over 100,000 actual entries, the promotor found it hilarious that I'd entered once!0

A rafflecopter competition that has just finished was to win a box of chocolates. There were 2806 entries in total, but one of the compulsory entry methods was to comment. There were 255 comments.
At the other end of the spectrum, this competition only had 14 entries. It was an effort comp, so proves that it is worth while spending time on competitions that require you to put effort into them.0 -

Thanks weeowens for posting NationalClubGolfer comp winners plus stats.
I have had a quick look through and added the thanks totals from MSE and the percentage of the total entries they represent. With "thanks" being between 0.5 and 14.1% of total entries there is not much of or even any connection between MSE entries and total entries.

Thanks MJM3346. I find this sort of thing really interesting. Even if you assume that on MSE, only half of the people that enter through the links bother to thank the poster, then there are still an awful lot of people that entered via different ways. I wonder if in this instance, a lot of the entrants were golfers with a connection to the site, or if this company has been targetted by one of the "pay to enter" type of comping sites. Obviously, I know that there are also other comping sites run on similar lines to MSE too.
Would be interesting to see how the number of thanks on a competition equate to the number of entries on other comps. There are some where it is the other way round. I am thinking in particular about effort comps, such as the one I mentioned above (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4378839&highlight=skilloff) which had 14 entries and 48 people thanked on MSE, but obviously decided it was too much effort to bother entering.0
