. Does it cost a lot? I really hope that his romance dies a natural death before he manages to move out there. Because it's not an ideal relationship for various reasons. Anyway if he goes for two months then that will be more of a test than talking on the internet and a five day visit.

The visa process is quite costly plus they will ask for details of how he will support himself while there, etc. and there's an embassy / consulate interview to pass, etc. if he went, it could also jeopardise his current income arrangements. Not wishing to be too cynical but, as we know, you do need more than love to keep you warm. Maybe you could suggest that his love interest comes to you for a visit!

Thanks gor the useful info INOD, DH and I are a bit clueless ourselves as to what's involved.

Yes that would be good and nice for us to meet her, but she has money difficulties and dependents, so I doubt if she could afford to come here for a visit

.

We're just hoping that he will realise himself eventually that the whole thing is a bit impractical.
