So glad DS arrived home safely and had a brilliant time. Hope he's feeling better x
Super pleased DS2 is home safe and sound . Let Christmas begin in the Hairy household .

See the shower is working again as well.

    Thanks Wannabe and Cumbria :).

DS2 told DS1 that he wants to go back to New Orleans in January, for a few months this time . Still we can't stop him and he coped very well on this trip and it would be great life experience for him, so...

But I would miss him very much :o.

Tomorrow my plans are pretty similar to today, but hopefully I'll achieve them all this time!

At the weekend which is nearly here, thankfully, I want to do my usual housework and shopping, plus:

    Write all my Christmas cards
    Wrap up some Christmas presents
Go through some more of DS2's rubbish bags
Take some more rubbish bags to the tip
Clean the windows in the living room
    Wash the living room curtains
Relax and watch some Christmas films

You better start banking extra hours sleeps now for the sleep you're going to lose when he goes for a couple of months xx

Just checking in after a couple of days away from the forum. I’m so pleased DS2 arrived back safe and sound. All in all it sounds like it’s been a wonderful experience for him. We do miss our children when they fly the nest - my DD flew off years ago when she went to uni - I still miss her even though we see one another as much as work, etc prevails. But it’s lovely to see them spread their wings and make an independent life for themselves. He’ll always be yours no matter how far away he flies and at least these days it’s easier to keep in touch with FaceTime, etc.

Here’s to the nice warm shower as well!:D

Thanks SSG I am very pleased for him because he is having some wonderful life experiences and is doing what makes him happy.

It has all happened so quickly that I haven't had time to get used to it, but I know that it's normal for children to fly the nest. I just wish he'd fly to London instead of America because then we could afford to visit him :(.

I won't worry so much the second time, as he coped so well this time and has become a much more experienced traveller.

Still he is unlikely to be allowed to live there permanently (unless he gets married ) so he will have to keep coming back.

I hear that on flying to London rather than the US! I do enough travelling up and down visiting DD! Thank goodness for the Senior Railcard!:D

I may need a senior aeroplane card to visit DS2 in America, if such a thing exists :rotfl:.

Still it's good incentive to make money and save money!

    Odd replies (!):
You never stop fretting about your children, but at least it gives you an insight into how your own parents feel/felt.

Aren't showers wonderful ? We've had one for 5 years now and it still seems a magical luxury.

Glad to see your list of things to do included a leisure&pleasure activity. Lists are a wonderful way of organising your mind to what you hope to do, but hopefully don't stress you by their unreasonable length !

I post Xmas cards using stamps given by the Royal Mail for test posting This really only works in a urban area - too much travelling otherwise, but a book of 12 1st-class stamps a month for 6 months does me for the year. Then I get rostered off and have to wait to be re-employed.

Also, if you use a phone/tablet/PC at odd moments throughout the day, then OnePoll is an excellent survey company. Up to half a dozen mini surveys a day, paying mostly 10p or 20p a time. Payout can come surprisingly quickly - used to be £40, but I think it's now £25.
