Completely agree with you jenniewb. I've only ever once bought one of these deals as I happened to be in a store once that has these promotions (my local ones don't) and iirc it consisted of 4 cod in batter, frozen chips, peas, Aunt Bessie's jam roly poly and Carte D'or ice cream. I bought it for the deserts alone and gave the fish and chips to my son0

That's a slightly better offer, assuming the battered fish fillets are proper cod fillets and not mechanically reformed mush.0 -

They wont be cod. If specific they'll probably be something like pollock. If it was cod it would say cod or haddock etc. When it's a fish not in demand they label as 'fish.Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140 -

Its Fish Fingers NOT Corn Cobs ?
Though strange they would have two different fish in same deal0 -

Pollock - and you can currently get double the size (4 fillets / 400g ) for £2 in Tesco

I don't shop in Tesco and nor do I like pollock. I prefer Aldi's chunky cod fillets in batter (4 fillets/500g) for £2.290 -
Looking at that list again I can buy cheaper in Aldi:
4 x cod fillets in batter (500g) - £2.29
Frozen peas (907g) - 69p
Sweet corn (900g) - 85p
Home style fries (1kg) - 95p
4 x ice cream cones (110ml) - 89p
Total cost = £5.67 but you're getting almost twice as much food for your money.0 -
Got the meal deal today, it was fish fingers instead of corn. It's a 6 pack of Cornetto.0

Yep, they're mechanically reformed mush pollock - but it's OK, cos they're formed from Alaskan pollock fillets  http://www.birdseye.co.uk/products/fish-fillets-in-batter
The same applies to the "100%" fish fingers. http://www.birdseye.co.uk/products/fish-fingers-in-crispy-batter
I hate that Birds Eye does this. As Feral Moon, I'll stick to Aldi0
