No such luck fredandwilma. I'll be sorting out a house move for my mother. Swapping one type of stress for another.

What is the tariff comparison rate? Ofgem, the energy regulator, has introduced a new tariff comparison rate (TCR) which it insists all suppliers and comparisons display. The aim of it is to give a single price which allows easy comparison across tariffs. We're not convinced it's of any value as the TCR doesn't factor in regional variations and is based on average usage and seems a little redundant when you have a bespoke comparison.

It can save someone with typical use on a big six standard tariff just over £300/yr
It's a fixed deal, meaning you can lock in the cheap rate for a year
It's only available for dual fuel - including Economy 7
If you're already with British Gas (or Sainsbury's Energy), you won't pay exit fees when you switch to this tariff

Probably best to be honest with her and let her know you are in no position to assist her at this time.
How about getting her to join MSE to seek advice of her own?
My advice to her would be to consult a comparison site and find the best deal for herself, not forgetting to consider seperate suppliers as they will often allow someone to save even more0 -
No such luck fredandwilma. I'll be sorting out a house move for my mother. Swapping one type of stress for another.

You've just reminded me. Need to make sure I take meter readings on the day. That could've been embarassing given where I work.

That's hilarious, Malc and fredandwilma, thanks.
Good luck with your mother's move, Malc... I have never actually been with Eon; I think y'all and SP are the only ones of the big six I have not been with... bit of tariff ho' but it's all about the money saving.
I can still remember how horrible EDF were, not doing them again (I do have some standards) :rotfl:0 -
That's hilarious, Malc and fredandwilma, thanks.
I hope i managed to make Malc laugh, (and a few others,) that was the intention, and i was inferring i hope he wasn't ending up in rehab.:rotfl:
I was wondering whether to mention there are two collectives coming up on 17th October, but maybe that's pushing it too far?
Oh well, he's gone.
Do let us know which energy supplier / tariff you choose, on your return.Fred - Where's your get up and go?

You certainly did make me laugh fredandwilma. Made a nice change after recent weeks. Must look at those collectives too.
Have a good weekend.
