Just checked Zoopla who say my house is worth £84,755 which is a little disappointing. Very in fact, since I paid £95,000 in 2007 :(

Next doors is less but with an extra bedroom so I'm not holding out much hope on the accuracy quotient:naughty:

Doesn't look like I'll be remortgaging any time soon!

    T:mad:

Ps still, I'm very happy here and it is MY house and I'm not looking to move anytime soon, so I'll just keep plugging away and who knows, the value may go up in the future and I'll be better off:D
    Mortgage at end 05/2007: £90200

That estimate from z00pla is very much a back of a fag packet calculation. But if accurate says it is worth more than you owe the bank, so that is a plus.

The timing of buying just before a crash is very unlucky, but remember that renting for the last 8 years you may have paid out as much.

You're right Midnight, the crash hasn't helped, but I'm not looking to move so I'm good for a while. Hopefully I'll be better off at some point and if I'm overpaying whilst the value is rising I'll be attacking the issue from both ends so to speak!!

    Morning all,

After finishing work last night, my friend texted me to ask if he could come round as he needed a friend. I haven't seen him for 6 months at least. He split with his girlfriend about 10 months ago because she's a nightmare. He's a beautiful, beautiful guy. So kind and gentle - good looking and would do anything for anyone. Because he's so nice, people can take advantage and his girlfriend certainly did that. To cut a long story short, she's already got 2 kids by another bloke and 7 years ago she "forgot" to take the pill and got pregnant. My friend stood by her and has been supporting and bringing up all 3 kids as if his own. He was saving so hard for a down payment on a mortgage so they'd all be secure, and she went a blew the lot on a family holiday to Spain, paying for her mother too (on hand babysitter for the holiday). My friend was so upset their relationship came to an end....

Anyway, news is she's shacked up with someone else now and my friend is worried about his daughter etc etc.

I was in his area so suggested we go for a drink.
Oh my goodness me, when I saw him, I nearly cried. He's dropped from 85kg (stocky and well defined) to 60kg (gaunt, sallow complexion) and he looks so ill. He's obviously not eating properly and is depressed. So I took him for a decent meal so at least I know he ate properly yesterday. So I spent £25 I hadn't budgetted but I couldn't do anything else.

I'm so worried about him - he's lost his sparkle and it's such a shame.
Offered him a bolt hole if he needs to get away.

Don't know why I'm telling you all this - suppose it was to justify the spend.

People can be so cruel can't they:(

You're being a great friend doing that and I'd kill my budget any day to do it too. Can't put a price on friendship and support and I'm sure he'd do the same for you if the roles were reversed :)

Good plan with your work focus too :)
