Payday Express have taken all my money!!!

  • I had a pd loan through payday express nearly 2 years ago now, I couldnt afford to pay it back through loss of job, they wouldnt agree a payment plan so I got a new debit card so they couldnt take any money from my account, I know I know they can take money even though you get a new card, but my bank told me they would not pay out any money to anyone using the old debit card number as it does not exist any more, and they never have.

I got a few letters from them, was told someone would be coming round to take all my belongings, (oooh scary) but I waited and waited and no one came, eventualy the letters stopped, the threats stopped and they gave up, no money was EVER taken from my account and I never paid them back, well they wouldnt accept a payment plan from me what was I supposed to do? It will be 2 years in March that I had the loan so maybe, just maybe you dont have to run, you dont have to hide nothing will come back to bite you, yep you will have a bad credit score, thats bad if you ever want credit, but mine is so wrecked anyway that it makes no odds to me. I would say though that PDLs are the worst way of getting a loan, the very very worst thing anyone can do and something they will eventually regret doing.

Are you working now, and can you start to pay back this debt?
  • Yes I am working now, and yes I could start paying them back if they would accept a plan but by now with the interest over 2 years the debt will be well over a grand so I couldnt pay it back all at once.

They have only took back what you tried to rob off them.we see this all the time..dont play with fire and you will not get burnt ..people think they are smart but these payday loan companys have every trick in the book...and why not when people are trying to con them left right and centre..

" Do not take a loan out if you think there is a slight chance you might not be able to pay it back".

Now where have i seen the above words? on payday loans websites, it can not be clearer..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Whilst you may or may not agree with either what the PDL Company or the OP have done, or even what they both have done, the fact remains 76p is not enough to feed a child for a month. So I think right now is not the time to be lambasting them for it.

OP I would do an inventory of your store cupboard and head over the Old Style forum and they will come up with some pretty amazing ideas about how to stretch it.

Whilst you may not be able to get the full amount back from the PDL it would be worth trying to get enough for food for the month, however I expect they may only do this with a promise of a future payment.

    Good Luck

You got any friends/family who could help you out for food ?
  • Every delaying tactic in the book? Where did you get that from? My card was genuinely swallowed by a cash machine and I cancelled my card after them having cleared my account - how is that every delaying tactic in the book? Would you not do the same if it would leave you with nothing?

I didn't intend to get into this situation and neither did I purposely or intentionally s***w the PDL company. It just happened. Not that I have to explain myself to you of course.

I think your post is really unhelpful and I really am astounded at the amount of users who are so quick to judge.

So, in twelve months' time you've made five payments, having employed every delaying tactic in the book. With all that interest due, how much do you owe now?

Like quite a few previous posters here, you had presumed you could manage to s***w the Payday Loan Company.......

Nobody has managed that yet, neither will you. These companies are ruthless, they have to be!
  • I for one am not judging, I have witnessed people claiming not to have paid anything at all or been able to settle their dues for a lot less then what was owed... and no.one judges that (thats why the likes of me and you will pay so much more) so I can't think what is worse if you get me - you have been making payments and PDE have been accepting them - take strength from this fact and remember you'll have proof of previous payment amounts as backup when it comes to reporting them which needs to happen

Your case would also be welcomed by the media because of the account raid - have you thought of giving that a try?
  • I gave them my card details again because I wanted to pay them back! I wasnt given the option of the account number thing and it actually didn't cross my mind.

I actually have no sympathy and im sorry if you feel this is harsh.
As they raided you before, why did you give them new debit card?

If you get a refund, then demand their sort code/account number so you can transfer the money to them, and then they wont be able to raid your account.

I have been in your position before, but i learnt straight away.
If you ever get into a position of a repayment plan, keep in control only pay through a bank transfer not though debit card, as many will empty you out, and the bank will never get involved.

I am not one for pouncing on people for using payday loans as i have in the past, they serve a purpose.

Some of the people on here see themselves as better than people that use PDL's
but these same people will have defaulted on loans, missed mortgage payments etc so in reality are no better.

    Good Luck OP.
  • I know you're not :) I don't mind it being pointed out that having a PDL wasn't a good idea but I kinda know that already!

Yeah, I will be reporting them. Despite what others may say about it being their money blah blah, there are still responsible lending practices and standards that these companies should adhere to so there you go!

thanks for your objective input :)
