P.s juicing has amino acids building blocks of protein and also soluble fibre involved too.

I have a Philips juicer 1870 I think you can get for about £40 which is good. Also if you add banana or 1/4 avacados it makes it more filling therefore keeps you longer before being hungry. I buy avacados ripe them put them in freezer bags in four pieces - quarters and they are ready to pull out to go in blender with juice from juicer.

Juicing doesn't 'create' these amino acids though! They will be present in the vegetables you pulp. Veg contains protein. Fruit on the other hand has little protein in it.

Just eating the fresh veg will do the same job.

Meat or dairy is the best source of protein.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Fruit and veg do contain fibre and protein, albeit maybe in smaller amounts than meat or dairy products?

I've had a look at the Phillips juicers, thanks. They are currently offering a free copy of the Jason Vale recipe book, with their blenders. It might be worth investing in a slightly more expensive model of juicer which makes a larger quantity of juice, (enough to last a day, at least.) I've found a Cookworks juicer for £29.99, but this only makes 0.8 litres of juice. I'm sure i only paid £29.99 (maybe less,) for my Cookworks microwave 10-15 years ago, and it's still going strong, so cheap isn't always poor quality. I bought it thinking i would throw it away as soon as it broke down. :D

I don't see how eating fresh fruit and veg, pulses, nuts etc, can be any less healthy than eating all the processed carp available to buy, nowadays?

It's not going to cost me money, apart from the juicer, and feathering the nest of the local greengrocer, (which i do already,) as i don't intend to subscribe to any plans, or buy any books, etc.

I watched the documentary and 60 days was extreme, but he needed extreme, he was overweight, he was ill and he needed to get down to a healthy weight. If you are not overweight then 7 days should be a good start and no more than 14 days.

The idea of this is to give you micro-nutrients and I understand these juices contain more vegetables than fruit. You can add supplements to the juices so you can add all the protein you need/want etc.

I think the guy lost over 5st in 60 days so if you do not need to lose weight - doing 60 days is madness.

Like others have said- probably good to do for a week or 2 if you just are doing it for the detox/energy boost that you are looking for, doing it longer may be OK for losing weight - HOWEVER the guy sought medical advice so like anything, may be worth speaking to your GP if you are intending to take anything like this on longer than a week or 2 to ensure that there is nothing underlying which may affect this.

It's something I have considered as I too often feel lethargic and lack energy after a day in the office, which shouldnt be the case as its only mentally taxing, not physically.

Maybe 60 days is a bit excessive in my case. It was just a maximum "target."

In truth, i intend to play it by ear, see how it makes me feel?

I must admit, i'm trying this for the (hopefully) feeling of wellbeing or maybe energy boost, as you say, and the healthy eating / living aspect. Losing a small amount of weight would be a bonus.

After a spell on the mean green juice, i intend to try and eat foods derived from plants, seeds, beans, fruits, veg and nuts, although i might variate at times, maybe adding fish to my diet.

Juicing is also responsible for a rise in dental decay and erosion amongst the middle classes & their kids who feel it's 'healthy'.

    Everything in moderation.

Taking anything to the extreme is unhealthy.

Isn't it an excess of juice from fruit that can lead to tooth problems? That I do know about.

But I've never read of juice from vegetables having that same effect.

I watched that programme too and was impressed by his improved health and looks and I've just bought myself a Vitamix Blender (after years of cheapie ones), as I gather it will get the juice from literally every single part of a fruit or vegetable and there is no question of throwing out a load of pulp afterwards (as it all gets blitzed up in there).

Don't think I'll try a 100% juice diet though, if only because I think I'd get far too hungry:eek:. I just plan on making my already (genuinely) healthy diet a good bit healthier.

Good luck with your fast. A better book than Jason Vale imo can be found here.

I blend rather than juice because I prefer the fibre as well. I also add green algae (spirulina and chlorella) to my drinks for extra protein. My blender has a 700w motor and serrated blades so can grind even hard seeds like flax. I also sprout seeds and pulses which together can add protein to drinks in the blender.

Lots to consider when going on a 60 day juice fast.

I agree I add wheatgrass and spiralina and ground seeds to my green juices for extra boost. I wouldn't make juicw for the whole day in one go as fresh is best however the need to be in flasks or bottles that don't let light in to juices.
