About normal for a Service pack to be honest. Its a cumulative upgrade so fixes many bugs at once..0 -
It's considerably smaller than some other service packs. SQL Server 2012 SP 2 is only just under 1 GB.0

If only we didn't have to try and download these things with 56k dialup modems.
Oh wait, we don't!

Some of us still do. ..... Actual speed 34k! !0 -
Then there's no point in even trying, I can't believe it will successfully download on a line at that speed. How far from the exchange do you live? I used to be 6 miles away and got around 400 kbps, which was difficult to live with, if your speed is really that slow and there's no land line or mobile option to improve it you should be seriously considering satellite solutions.0

Actually, it's a whopping EIGHT TIMES larger than that -- it's 723.9MB (megabytes)! Not 723.9Mb (megabits)!0 -
One advantage of having a cumulative update in a single file is that you could download it on another computer with a good connection, save the file to a USB stick or similar, then install it later.0

I've just been reading a thread about this on another Forum.
It does seem that the update caused problems. For instance it looks like Avast have had to issue an update to their software, to get this MS Update to work.
I'd suggest holding off for a week or so before applying this one.

Who else remembers when a whole OS (DOS 6) came on 3 floppy disks ?
(ie Total of approx 4.5Mb)
Then Windows 3 came along on (I think) 6 Disks - sitting on top of DOS - and the whole thing started .... although I don't remember any updates on those early versions (connected to the internet)
Things have changed in the last twenty years !!!0
