A bit limp wristed, surely MSE could have asked 3 would a change in data FUP not have been better than a double price hike...

So as had already been said in other threads take it up the **** or leave ? & it took MSE how long to come up with that ?
  • I like this line

"If you've received such a letter from Three, you're free to leave your contract penalty-free and switch to another provider if you wish."

as they are sending letters to people out of contract this is pretty irrelevant.

this is a bit annoying. as its the opposite of what we had with mid contract price rises.

so you sign up to a contract. and its a good deal!
    so you stick with it.
but its so good that effectively you'll never change.

so the provider then scraps the good deal forcing you to change.

very disappointed as i thought three was different to the others.
    doesn't seem so.
  • I've just had a txt from three:
Hi, we recently let you know your plan was changing on 24/03/2016. for more info & your other options please clock Three.co.uk/NEW_PLANS

This is the first they've contacted me about this, no email, txts or letters before today.

I'm on the one plan out of contract but am I right in thinking they have to give 30 days notice before making any change to T&Cs?

  • Those "unlimited" deals for £15 a month couldn't last forever (just like final salary pension schemes!) so if you're a Three customer then shop around for a better deal and sign up to that.
Bear in mind that Hutchinson (owners of Three) have bid £10.5bn for O2 so the money has to come from somewhere and the contract increases are a small part of that.

£15 was a good deal, £30 is not.

They are not the best network, and speeds (In C London) at peak times are terrible. Also indoor coverage is an issue and it causes dropped and missed calls.

I have moved to Vodafone last month, and the coverage, speed and call quality are all much better.

Remember, loyalty counts for nothing these days so dont think they care about you as a customer!

these changes were implemented way before o2 were even on the table, its not even a part of the issue, 10.5 billion is pocket change to the Hutchison Whampoa backers.

The problem is the "best network" will vary from person to person based on what and where they need it.

I find Vodafone very poor for data when I'm travelling or on rural locations. My sister currently uses Voda and is looking to move.

So whilst it may be the best for you it won't be others and Three may still be the best option for some.

I agree £15 to £30 is hard to swallow but many have negotiated better deals. I went from £15 to £17 but don't use many minutes so AYCE data with 600 mins plus 2000 3 to 3 mins was acceptable on a monthly rolling plan.

Just got my letter yesterday. I've been on The One Plan since 2013 and was paying £10/Month due to the terrible speeds and coverage I got. I also have a Home Signal Box that I use at work because the coverage I get at work is near enough zero and it helps a LOT!

Overall though, I was happy paying the £10/Month and the lack of worrying running out of data. I travel a lot and made heavy use of the data and tethering, so this price hike is gonna hurt!

What luck have people had with Ofcom complaints? Do I not have any protection as I am out of contract?
