I hate the crap I get. I loathe shopping for things I know they don't want. I resent paying through the nose for Christmas cards. There.0

Put a note in with each Christmas card saying that in future you will no longer be sending cards. Send the money you would have spent on cards and postage to your favourite charity. That's what I did some years ago.0

I think people are just fed up of (yet more) pointless articles, threads, whatever, on every website, about Xmas .....
Nothing wrong with the day itself so long as it just means most people all having the same time off work, so people can plan to be with others + a jolly good feed.
All that presents nonsense is an irritation...... it'd be better if the rules were "Buy yourself something you really want, wrap it up and open it on the day".0 -
Hardly a surprise the result given the money saving nature of the site. If you're up to your eyeballs in debt, and have family you hate, are single and childless I could understand. II had a bad Xmas last year recovering from chemo and havibg to stay away from potential ill people so I want to make Xmas extra special this year for the children and wife.
I've done all my shopping online and watch catchup TV so not been bombarded with adverts and constant Xmas music. Feel sorry for the shop floor staff who have had the same Xmas CD on repeat since November though!0 -
When was this poll?
Did not even see it.0 -
I don't really want to ban Christmas.
But I wish it was a biannual advent instead.;)The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
I haven't put any decs up for thirteen years. Just done my present shopping online at one site for 12 people, took 15 minutes and £140. Will write ten or so cards tomorrow from a reduced pack I bought in January three years ago.
Will order in curry on Xmas eve, put in fridge and reheat Xmas day. Job done, piece of p ss.
Same routine every year and I just ignore the rest of it.0 -
Hope you'll be showing balance MSE by asking if other religions should have their festivals banned too?0

What if John Lewis did a Christmas list, instead of a wedding list?
Or PayPal?
Some kind of link up with Facebook.
If you were the Miss World type, and wanted World Peace or end to disease, you could set up some kind of charity button, and the "friend" just clicks it and gets diverted to some kind of payment option. Obviously you get a page to look up who paid what to whom.
I think 1p per donation will do. If I have ten friends, and they donated 1p each to my good causes, then by the Sheldon Cooper reciprocation principle, I will have to donate 10p in total back. If everybody on Facebook did this, it's multi-million pounds for sure. What happens to people with 10,000 Facebook friends, I wonder?0 -
I don't mind Christmas.
I buy gifts - things that I know my friend and family members (only 4 of them) will really appreciate. I don't spend a fortune.
We have a very quiet Christmas (our choice).
What I don't like is all the fuss starting months in advance.
I dislike all the adverts aimed at parting fools from their money.
I hate the way TV presenters keep banging on about 'the big day' and all those TV chefs telling you how to cook the perfect turkey, the fluffiest roast potatoes....
In fact, I pretty much agree with what Martin Lewis says:Martin Lewis, founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, says: "It seems there is a collective bah humbug sweeping across the nation. Much of the chatter is because a one-day festivity has now turned into a season, with Christmas starting at the beginning of November.
"I doubt many people actually dislike the day itself – although being cooped up with the relatives does worry some – it's just all the days running up to it. Yet the constant pressure to buy gifts and presents, the drone of advertising and the ever-present tinkle of jingle bells in stores means people are far more keen to press the big red cancel Christmas button than sit on the proverbial knee of the big red fella."0
