Great 'What to buy/not to buy in pound shops' Hunt


You shared your best pound shop buys back in 2008. In 2009, you shared the items you should avoid buying. But now more have opened, selling a wider array of products, we want to tap MoneySavers' collective knowledge on £1 bargains and rip-offs.

    White vinegar spray from 99 p store is great for cleaning windows, ovens, sinks etc. most of the cleaning products are good.

    Travel alarm clock from Poundland, it's a good size (5cms square) and it has a clear dial and alarm is loud enough :)

    Drain cleaner with caustic soda is the same as the one at £3 in Asda, the garden rubble bags are decent quality too.

    Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste - it's easy to get expensive brands for much less

    HDMI cable from Poundland. In Maplin's it was about £13. It's just a length of wire, and the £1 cable works fine.

    The clip lid Tupperware tubs are really good and considering you get a large and a small one for £1 and in supermarkets you can expect to pay about £4 for a small clip lid tub, its fantastic!

    Pregnancy test strips-2 for £1 and detected my pregnancies as early as the Tesco £3 ones:beer:
