So the phone goes tonight, some foreign bint wanting to conduct a survey. I asked what the survey was for. To stop me receiving unwanted calls and mail!
Managed to keep her on the phone for half an hour repeatedly asking how her survey would acheive this, still never got an answer.
Eventually she gave up and hung up.
Idiot

I applaud the attempt to waste their time but really who has half an hour to waste on the phone??? If anyone like that rings, hang up instantly which will prevent that particular company being able to call you again until it is 'your turn'. Also realistically your time was wasted, they get paid to call you so they don't really care less if you are wasting their time or not, they are just doing what they are paid to do.0 -
I was doing nothing at the time so I had time to waste. I enjoyed her feeble attempts at trying to ignore my questions0

I ask them to hold on while I get my mother, then put the phone down next to the cradle.

I used to hate those and there was no way to stop them emailing you. I used to report them to Hotmail for spam.
I never got Hotmail to shut down it's own account though.0 -

1st thing to do is not take the call - I haven't taken an 'unknown call' for over 10 years (haven't replied to spam emails for even longer) - if you answer then they know it's valid phone number (someone there to harass) and they will circulate your number and you will get 'harassed' regularly - in the same as they wait for people to respond to emailsWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

It is the mentality of 'I will waste their time' that makes me laugh. The 'cold caller' doesnt care less if the receiver is interested or not or winding them up or not. They're just sat on their !!! calling people.
If someone has the time to stand there for half an hour and 'waste their time' then they need to question what they are doing with their lives.0
