I have no idea if it's OS as such but is quite cheap!
Apple Chutney
3lb apples (sour eaters best)
3lb onions
1lb sultanas
2 lemons
1.5lb brown sugar
1 pint malt vinegar or apple cider vinegar/combo
Peel and chop apples and onions
Put in large pan with sultanas
Add lemon zest and juice
Add vinegar and slowly bring to the boil
When apples softened add sugar and continue to cook gently until chutney thickens (N.B it continues to thicken as it cools)
Pot and cover while hot
Must be simple as I can do it!Weight loss: Start weight: 80kg; Current Weight: 77kg; Target weight: 55kg0 -
There is a whole thread full of such recipes - "The Preservers Year" (sorry, don't know how to do links )."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-17180

you'll find a few in post #5 of The Complete Cooking Collection
also have a look through The Complete Jam, Chutney and other Preserves collection
did you have a specific type of chutney in mind, ie onion, tomato ...... ?... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
