Glad it worked for you Jimbob. Sadly OH decided to go with the local bloke, who said it was beyond economical repairPlease forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Solution to above
Had exactly the same problem as listed...LG wouldn't power up after power cut...red light used to come on for a few seconds when first plugged to mains before going black.
Following worked for me:
Leave TV disconnected from all connections for 24 hours.
1> Make sure your using a 5 amp fuse in your power lead, preferably use a new fuse.
2> Plug the power lead into mains and switch on
3> At the same time: plug the power lead in to the TV and make sure you press the power button on the TV, i.e when the red light appears.
Was about to buy a new TV as I was getting quotes of around £50 to fix it but above worked!
No expert but thought this may save someone else a new TV cost :money:0 -
