onestopphoneshop - 2 free phones, 12 months free l/r and £38 cashback

Hi, I had this emailed to me from topcashback. Hope this doesn't sound like spam.
I'm not going to take advantage as not a fan of cashback phone deals (and am hoping to survive on PAYG when my contracts up) but if it's any good to anyone it might be worth a nosy:

"The One Stop Phone Shop (which is the online arm of The Carphone Warehouse) is offering phones with a free 12 month contract - but don't worry, you're not tied in for months afterwards - the contract only lasts for 12 months. So you really can get your phone and talk/text time for free for a year.
Not only that, they ALSO have a limited stock of free PAYG phones to give away with this offer - these phones come with £10 free airtime!!!
As if all that wasn't enough, we can currently offer an EXCLUSIVE £38 per phone with One Stop Phone Shop.
So - let me summarise ... You can get a free contract phone for a year. You are then NOT tied into the contract beyond the year. Along with this deal you can also get a free Pay as you Go phone with £10 free credit. Finally, just to really maximise your returns, you also get an exclusive £38 cashback via Top Cashback!
One note of caution...
This is termed a free contract - but in order to be free, it relies on you redeeming your contract fees with One Stop Phone Shop directly. This is a wholly separate scheme to the £38 cashback on offer via Top Cashback.
This so-called 'Redemption Cashback' should all be explained in detail in the pack which One Stop Phone Shop would send you - but basically you will have a contract with a mobile phone network (e.g. Orange), which you will need to pay each month as normal. You then save up your bills from Orange and send them in to One Stop Phone Shop at set intervals (for instance after 6, 8, 10 and 12 months). They will then send you a cheque to re-imburse you for your contract - meaning your contract is essentially free.
onestop.gifOne Stop Phone Shop - exclusive rate £38 cashback
As mentioned above, we can currently offer an exclusive rate of £38 cashback per contract with One Stop Phone Shop.
As it happens, One Stop currently have a fantastic deal on at the moment - meaning you can get a free contract for 12 months on some great phones.
I'll talk in more detail about one particular offering - but you're best to visit One Stop Phone Shop to check all details and to find something that is right for you.
According to the One Stop Phone Shop website, you can get a Free Sony Ericsson K800i with 12 Months Free contract by redemption (on a 12 month contract) + they will throw in a free Samsung B100 Pay as you Go phone with £10 credit.
This particular contract gets you 100 minutes talk time / 300 texts per month. The phone sounds good too - again, according to their website:
"The new Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone is a fantastic Cyber-shot™ digital camera and feature-packed 3G handset all rolled into one.
Wherever you go with your K800i, you’ll have an amazing 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, built-in xenon flash and image and video stabilizer function ready for any moment. With the K800i, it’s almost impossible to take a bad picture. The built-in xenon flash unit gives you real photographic light where lighting conditions are not optimal."

If that takes your fancy, go via the topcashback site for £38 cashback too.

ok, this does sound too good to be true.

free k800i, 12 months free l/r on £30/month tarff (paid upfront but refunded) + free sam b100 with £10 credit and £38 free cashback with topcashback

anyone who has signed up to topcashback.co.uk should have got the email earlier advising them off this offer on onestopphoneshop.com website plus £38 cashback when u go through topcashback.co.uk

after i ordered, i did some brief reading on onestopphoneshop and see a lot of people having problems getting their line rental back from them (you pay the line rental upfront but have to send your bills in to get a refund).

Have i made a grave mistake? Has anyone managed to get their line rental back from them that was promised? I have posted this offer on a few forums and i feel really stupid now that i didnt remember the old saying 'if it sounds too good to be true it probably is'

are e2save and onestopphoneshop the same company by the way? both operated by cpw?

Here is the email i recevied from topcashback earlier

    Would appreciate some advise.

    Hi ,

As you know, we only like to email you when we really have good offers to tell you about. So we may not email you for a month - and then you may get a couple of emails from us in a couple of weeks - just like now! We are emailing you again because there really does seem to be a good offer up for grabs at the moment.

I wanted to let you know about a cashback deal on offer at the moment - which really does sound almost unbelievably good.

On a more personal note ...

At Top Cashback we have been looking to work more closely with mobile phone retailers for a while. To this end, we went over to visit the guys at One Stop Phone Shop and e2save recently (which are both divisions of Carphone Warehouse).

I have to say that we were very impressed with their set-up and the guys there seemed extremely professional and even better, keen to work with us :-) This means that they are looking to make sure everything runs smoothly and to sort out any missing Top Cashback claims as a top priority. We are also working together on getting Top Cashback members some great, exclusive deals in the future - so make sure you keep an eye on our site and on these retailers for future mobile phone exclusives. (All of that said, remember we can never vouch 100% for any retailer, as their operations are beyond our control).

Keep an eye on the One Stop Phone Shop page of our site - we will update our site with links to forms which you may need to download. Also, please add your own tips and tricks and experiences so that we all help each other to make this deal run as smoothly as possible.

That's it for this email. Don't forget to save yourself some money and use us whenever you can for all of your internet shopping.

    Cheers,
Olly, Mike and the rest of the team.
    TopCashback

p.s. Please please help your friends and forward this great offer on to them RIGHT NOW. Then sit back and guess how many times they will thank-you :-) !!!

E2Save and OSPS ARE the same. I have that's a year old now and I have repeatedly posted it on the many relevant threads on year. Fools rush in...

I suggest that if you really want to see your cashback you make up for lost time and do a LOT of research on here. You can start with this:-

  • I've just received the email and gone on to order a new phone. Made sure I saved copies of all relevant info related to claiming cash back, Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy. Fingers crossed now I guess. Hopefully as part of Carphone Warehouse they should be fairly reliable. My wife has had a cashback contract with CPW for 18 months and so far they have paid out without a problem.

Famous last words. Do the research or don't be surprised in six months' time when your claims are rejected.

hi mobilejunkie. i dont mind you calling me a fool but i have never visited this forum before yesterday (i get the MSE newsletter, but thats all) if i had read all the bad info regarding cashback before i ordered i would not have done so.

thanks for the link btw, i started reading that thread yesterday but not got to the end yet.

just gotta decide now if i should keep the phone and give the cashbacks a go or send the whole thing back

I took up a similar offer from Onestopphoneshop 18 months ago and received all the cash back I was intitled to. :j
Just make sure you follow all the terms and conditions. You need to send claim forms and relevent phone bills within cirtain time frames, set your phone to warn you when these are and send via recorded delivery. You should have no problems and will save yourself a few quid.

18 months ago they were a half-decent company. Now they are a different kettle of fish.
