:hello:
Good evening everyone. I am in need of some assistance please!
I have a jar of Mirabelle plums which I acquired in France last June. They are in what I can only describe as a 'heavy syrup' - really thick, sweet & sticky.
They need using, or chucking. I know which of the two I'm supposed to do.
Can I have some suggestions for something nice please?
Cheers,
MBE

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Hello Mr BE, not seen you posting for a while....good to see you back.
Not very original I'm afraid but how about plum cake or plum upside down pudding? (you know what a pleb I am, remember the orange liqueur thing?)
I'm sure someone else will be along with something more exotic in a minute....I'll watch with interest. I've opened the wine, do you want a glass?0 -

I don't want to waste the syrup! I'm sure I'm not allowed to do that, or I lose my OS safety pin! :eek:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I thought about crumble, but wasn't sure if I could do that with them in syrup. Ice cream......now there's a good idea!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
How about an upside down cake, served with vanilla ice cream, and a pouring of the syrup?

I made a plum cobbler the other week and it was delice... just put the drained plums into a glass dish and cover with sweet suet pastry rounds (cut with a pastry cutter) sprinkle with brown sugar... serve with custard or ice-cream...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
