Possible Bankruptcy - Advice..

I posted a fuller version of this which explained what i had done up to this point in the DFW thread and someone suggested i post here as well..
So here goes.. I

I have been off work through illness since April 2007, which is pretty much the last time i made any payments to any creditors.. After putting things off for so long i found out a new Community Legal Advice centre was opening in my town so i contacted them and saw someone who went through my income and expenditure..

She thought the best option for me was bankruptcy due to the fact i am still off work, mt debts total around £18,000 & my only income at the moment is Incapacity Benefit..
The problem i have now is the bankruptcy fee, i applied to the Severn Trent trust fund and got a letter from them on Saturday saying they were declining it.. I don't have any excess money left each week though if i cut back on grocery shopping i could maybe put £10 aside each week - but that would take me 35 weeks to save up the fee.. And not sure i could last 35 weeks of stress not knowing how everything was going to turn out..

So, i was wondering if anyone had any ideas ??

Thanks
Mav.

I know it sounds silly if you're contemplating BR but is there a friend or relative that might be prepared to lend it to you?

Not really no, i don't have any family around & most of the friends i had i haven't had any contact with since i went off ill - so not really an option..

Have thought about Ebay, don't really have anything as i had a clear out a few years back.. but might be able to find something..

I hope i am eligible for the £150 court fee, otherwise i've gotta find £500 rather than the £345..

Hi! I am in a very similar situation - was ill health retired in March 06 and am still not working. I was lucky and a friend loaned me my br fees. I paid the lower rate and was receiving Income support with incapacity credits. Have you applied for disability benefit? The CAB will help you to fill in all the forms etc. I found them really helpful and received my benefit within 3 wks! Even at the lowest rate its £64 a month which would help towards the court fee. Good luck

Sorry me again! Just had another thought! Has anyone mentioned permitted work to you. Apparently you are allowed to do some hours even whilst signed off sick without affecting your benefits. I do not know all the details as I have only just found out about it myself. Im in cornwall and have an appointment with A4E Pathways next week to find out more. Not sure if they run the scheme nationwide or just in my area. Your benefits office or job centre should be able to tell you more. If there is a similar scheme in your area it could help you raise the br fee quicker.
