Feedback needed on JDS

Hi folks,
Im researching a new home phones article.
The basic idea is
JDS/Primus saver which have no monthly fee but free eve/weekend calls as CPS
with 1899/18185 for other calls on top
Officially JDS says you can't use an override. Yet unofficially it's admitted you can and it won't be stopping people.
However i want to double check, is anyone doing this and is it working for you.
If you can let me know here that'd be great
However if there's any change over the next two weeks please urgently email archna at moneysavingexpert dot com (not written direct so spam softwares don't grab it)
thanks folks

The JDS bit threw me but i think Martin is referring to Planet-Talks Primus Saver Option 2.

The only possible thing JDS or PlanetTalk could do is change their t&c so that you made calls during the daytime as well via them but then I don't think they could tell when you weren't making calls through them so long as line rental is still paid to BT. So to get around this, if it was implemented, was to make some daytime calls via them but they (JDS) have to be realistic in that if everyone in the household works and no one is home until after 6pm then obviously no one can make any calls via them in the daytime anyhow.
This was explained by Oftel in a consumer guide to CPS here. Specifically the relevant paragraph is:-Do I have to make every call using my CPS provider?
No, you will be able to use any other provider with whom you have arranged services (including BT) by dialling extra digits before the phone number you want to call. (This is called an 'over-ride' or 'indirect access' code.) For example, you may want to use a CPS provider for most international calls but use another provider just for calls to a particular country.0 -
I don't think a CPS could stop a user dialling out on another company via an indirect access code (1899, 18185 or whatever) because the call would be diverted away from the CPS at the BT exchange (i.e. before the CPS 'saw' the call).
Well, that seems logical to me anyway.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -

Well at least I don't think they can!0 -
sorry.
i believe u guys are incorrect
i do NOT think you can have CPS & then use another carrier like 18866/1899 etc..
if you're on CPS [with Free eve/w'end calls...etc ] to use another carrier, you MUST dial the 1280 overide & get back to BT first.
i do that with Swiftnet [C.S. on 0800 6191 999] who give free w'end calls (at no xtra chge] only if your bill monthly exceed £20.00 -- & mine always does coz i use their mobile overide service recommended by Martin :money: here:
http://www.contactnumbers.com/mobile-override.php & i have an 0800 freefone from them too. :rotfl:0 -

Have to agree with April2. I use Tele2 as my CPS for free evening w/end calls. Then use 18866, 1899 and 18185 etc. Although they are routed using an Orchid dialler - it does not go back to BT via 1280 beforehand.....0 -

Well I read SwiftNet's t&C here and it says nothing that you can't use other providers as well as themselves.
I assume it actually blocks indirect access codes for 18866 (call18866) or 1899 (Call1899) and you have to dial 1280 first and then 18866?
It's not possible to have two CPS carriers at the same time so using SwiftNet and then trying to use OneTel, TalkTalk, etc isn't possible.
I have just sent an email to BT for confirmation of this.0 -

No need to feel humbled drek, I thought the same as you when I first started using 18866 two years when with Onetel, I used to dial 1280 then 188660
