Our year with talktalk is almost up.

We new it had to end sometime, but judging from the messages it seems those of us who this time last year were making decisions about talktalk and their promise of free weekend/evening calls, now find we are receiving those letters informing us that our time is almost up. It's true they are offering a deal of £4.99 a month for the same set-up, but as someone pointed out last week, you would need to make a great many calls to equal the better offer of using 18866 full time.
So just when I'd decided that 18866 was the better offer for me, I see that www.justdialsaver.com will give me what talktalk did, so it looks as though I may do a switch. Has anyone else made this move ?, was there any complications ?, I may just email talktalk to see if they're prepared to extend my time with them and casually drop justdialsaver into the conversation.

And so will Planet Talk.islandman wrote:So just when I'd decided that 18866 was the better offer for me, I see that www.justdialsaver.com will give me what talktalk did, <snip>Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Some things to note:
Planet Talk have a time-limit of 90minutes before the call becomes chargable whereas JustDial have a time-limit of 2 hours. You can of course disconnect and reconnect just before this time-limit to get another 90mins / 2 hours respectively.
JustDial have a cap on mobiles calls during the evening & weekend for calls under 20minutes.
Both are email only companies hence why they can offer free evening&weekend calls without a monthly fee.
JustDial have a policy of charging £1 for any emails queries where the answer is already on their website (ie what is minimum call charge?). Obviously, querying you bill (the most likely reason for contacting them) wouldn't count.0 -
Talktalk have offered me an extra 3 months. I have to call them mid-Dec to discuss a further extension. Thanks for your advice. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

thanks for the reminder , although think I signed up a little later - thought it was in Dec ( well you imply they write out anyway) , they might have me over a barrel, as my cheap broadband (£14.99) in April (?) required me to be on talktalk2 ( which I was already on for free!)
shame really , enjoyed referring myself ( and getting paid) for all these different productsAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
you referred yourself? How?That, is an excellent question...0

if they write out to tell you your free calls are up ,they didnt with me ,but I was on to them early ,about 3 weeks before mine ended .0 -
got 2 lines
so signed up for line 1 via my own websites link ( if not got own affiliate link could cashback site) worth about £20
sent a referal from line 1 for line 2 ( think was £20 each at that time) whilst still going via my own link (£20)
signed up for BB on existing line, but first referred myself as above ( down to £10 each !) and via own link ( should have been £20- don't think they paid that one!)Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
I just looked at Planet Talk - they appear to have a 4p connection charge for each call (whether in the "free" periods or not) which makes them more expensive than 1899/18866.
Or am I missing something?

According to the FAQ
Your Primus Saver calls are billed per second. Calls that you make outside your Primus Saver call plan will carry a 4p (inc. VAT) minimum call charge.

Hi Edinburghlass - I finally spotted the FAQ's, thanks for that.
So - does this mean that the 4p min charge is for calls to mobiles, etc? Sorry to be so dumb, I don't find their site very user-friendly!
TIA Stella0
