Debt free wanabee diary suggestion

While I am a huge fan of the diaries and I really like reading how DFW are dealing with their debt would consideration be given to having a diary sub-board?

I always feel sorry for the newbie posters whose post get lost amongst all the diaries and since the diaries have taken off there are more and more newbies starting off their message with apologies about being not sure about posting or lurking for a long time before posting.

I strongly believe that diaries have a really valuable place, I just worry about the new posters
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:

    Hi Lorne.

This has been covered in several well argued threads on DFW in the past.

    In particular threads from:

Triker: 'Ere there's a lot of diary's on here!
    immoral_angeluk: Debt Diary Sub-board Poll
    MSE Andrea: Diaries Sub-forum poll

    and

I may be talking rubbish, and being lazy, because there are so many posts to trawl through..

But has it been decided that most people want the board to stay as it is then? Those links are quite old too.

Personally, I am put off by all the diaries so very rarely venture that way. It always seems to be more of a club than a discussion board and it would be much easier if they were put in a sub forum.

I think the general conclusion reached was to leave things as they were.

If you think the issue is worth exploring again, then why not post a thread on DFW, linking back to here if necessary?

Thanks. I'm not too worried, as it is not a board I'd frequent too often anyway. I used to like catching up on all the tips every now and again (I do the same on the Old style board) but now I find the diaries off putting, so avoid it tbh.

I wondered what the outcome was as the arguments seemed to be 50/50 and the poll set up by Andrea showed more in favour of a sub forum. But then one thread suggested a trial and I wondered if that had happened and people then decided they preferred it as it was anyway.

I'm not sure that makes sense! :rotfl:

    OK. :)

I should correct what I said. What I meant was that I think there was no absolutely clear consensus that anything should be changed. In the absence of that, then I presume that the "powers that be" decided it is best left as it is?

I can sort of understand where you are coming from, but at the same time others would say that exactly the same things you see as negatives are positives in their eyes.

Like any board on MSE (it seems to me) it is what the users make/want of it. If at any point it appears that there is a need for change, then I'm sure the site team will be amenable.
