Safari 3.1 The Fastest Browser Yet

The latest Safari 3.1 is sooooo fast compared to Firefox 3, IE8 (buggy) and Opera.

I mean really really fast, instant web pages, perfectly rendered, shame there are no mouse gestures for XP and new tab homepage, apart from that it's perfect.

3 is a beta, lots of the toys don't work with it, so i'm in no hurry to change.

Firefox 3 is still in beta, if you don't mind testing beta software it is available from:

Yes, Firefox 3 is still in Beta stage. If you are uncomfortable with betas, stay with 2.0.0.12. I use Firefox Portable 3.0 beta 4 myself.
And yes, unless you install a lot of add-ons that manipulate the downloaded pages on the fly, I don't think Safari is faster than Firefox.

It does have some fast rendering but I find it sometimes gets frozen between some pages (which negates any speed in the rendering). Also it doesn't seem to be able to render some pages properly in comparison to the other browsers (e.g. overlaying some frames on top of text).

I haven't tried 3.1 but I tried it when it was first released for Windows and I couldn;'t stand the interface. I doubt if I'll try it again unless thaqt has improved dramatically.

The reason I use IE7 as my default is because I like the interface and I actually like the cleartype font so the Safari one doesn't look "right" to me. It is certainly an improvement over the last version which was the same you last tried, that was so horrible I couldn't even bear to keep it installed on my PC.
