Tesco Voucher No-go!

When I tried to pay for my goods with part cash and part various coupons I had been saving, the girl on check-out said Tesco policy was not to accept any vouchers/coupons for goods not bought.
Since when did this rule come in? Ok I know its a bit cheeky using various coupons, but this enticed me into Tesco in the first place, and I was sorely disappointed by this sudden turn-around.
Anyone know of other stores who are still willing to take multiple coupons as part-payment?

*cough* bit cheeky :-)
I once had a go at a bloke ahead of me in ASDA who was taking an age to pay for about £50 of shopping with coupons and a £10 note.
I would welcome all supermarkets changing their policy.0 -
As far as i know (through email a week ago from Tesco head office) its still Tesco policy to accept coupons for products they sell even if you don't buy them. Either the checkout girl didn't know what she was talking about or had been misinformed0

Last time I looked this was a money saving website
Using coupons is one of many various ways of *cough* "saving money"0 -
Just used £27 worth of vouchers - trying to use the Zing ones before they expire - in tescos tonight. No problem.0

I second Addy on that!yep if we all started thinking people using coupons ahead of us were a nuisance ( most likely to be fellow Mse'ers ) and indeed stopped ourselves because of such grumpys, we wouldnt exactly be saving money now would we!! Bring on the coupons!
P.s to the lady who got declined, i would just try another till, my mother is constantly doing this at all the Cambridge stores, i do believe Tesco policy is to accept coupons as long as they stock the particular produst, so just try again and by all means write to tesco customer services, im sure they will oblige and write you an email explaining so, Good luck!!:eek:FunkyFeet:eek:Elite 5:2 #190 -
Thanks funky feet, I shall email Tesco and find out what is actually going on in my local shop. Like I said earlier, if it weren't for the coupons, I probably would not be shopping there anyway, as I do 90% of my shopping at Aldi, just buying things like Flora, Mars Ice Cream bars, plus other branded stuff there.keep smiling,

Get on the phone to customer service and demand a voucher to compensate for rubbish communications to the staff. I got one from Asda for the same reason. ( and then went back and used the vouchers at Tesco!!)Like my avatar, took the photo myself with the free digital camera I bought from boots with all my free points! I love moneysaving.0

Absolute pants, if you contact head office customer service they will confirm this for you
0800505555 as you will see it is a freephone number and won't cost you a penny, don't forget to ask them to write or email to confirm and then proudly trot off to your local armed with your confirmation.
check my posts and you will get a big surprise if you believe what the assistant told you.
Over the past few weeks I have provided the answers to any questions you may have regarding Tesco policy in relation to coupons or their "refund and replace" policy if you are not aware of these policies you would do well to view the various threads relating to them.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
I went to Tesco yesterday, armed with 7 emails, 1 head office letter and 1 from the CS manager of the store i was in. Not really thinking I'd need any of them...........seeing as everyone is now supposed to know their policy while working there.
Did they say they couldn't take my vouchers?
YES!!!!!
'We only accept a coupon if you purchase the item', nonsense started to come out................
So out come all the paper copies, including from the store I was in saying 'We will be HAPPY to accept coupons for any product we stock/sell, even if you do not buy the product'...........blah blah blah
'Ah yes, I know what it says, but we are told not to take them'.
I asked for the on duty manager (I seem to know all their names now), when he came (didn't get as far as my till) he saw me, waved his arms and said 'Oh its alright just take them' and walked off. I get the impression he's fed up of seeing me
Then the young guy says one wouldn't go through, told him to do it manually, still wouldn't. I knew they stocked the item 'cos I'd bought it!
Said he wasn't taking it, so I asked for the manager again.............he took it!
Boy its hard work..................
LLWe are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars........................0
