Vodafone recently brought in the £1 a day max thing for vodafone live. So far I have been billed over £5 on 2 occasions, and have a further 2 days coming in at £1.15. Ok so 15p not a huge amount, but if the same is accross loads of customers, then thats a lot of extra money for them

I would recommend checking your bills since they started this if you use wap a lot on vodafone, their billing doesn't very reliable.

I will go through the rest of my bills in the morning before ringing up and asking for the money to be refunded!

I believe it's £1 for the first 15MB and then £2 for every MB over that?

Here's a link: (PAYG, but it's the same as contract costs)

As you're probably aware there have been some quite severe problems RE data billing on the Vodafone network.

I'd be more than happy to look into your charging for you but in order to do so you will need to get in touch. If you use the Online Contact Form to send us an email, including FIT135 anywhere in the text I'll be able to investiagte it for you.

    thanks

shame they don't refund without asking!

vodafone must monitor these forums, or that code you always tell people to put alerts them about people complaining on here as a representative of vodafone told me he knew that i had complained on a message board, but as I never told any of them, there was no way they got that information from me:eek:

The refunds are being applied automatically but as it applied to all customers who use our internet services as you can imagine it may take a while. The code itself is purely for email routing. When you use the FIT codes, our email system picks up on the code a routes it through to ourselves. Without it your email will be put in the relevant Customer Services queue.

When you email in we have to put your email on your account, along with our reply which is how the staff member will have known. Apart from that I do know that a lot of staff members from all the mobile companies use the major forums in their personal time. So if you ring in with a query that you've recently posted a forum about, occasionally you will get a staff member who's seen the thread (maybe even posted on it).
  • I too have been having this exact same problem with erratic data charging from Vodafone. I renewed my contract with them at the beginning of June and got a new Nokia N95. Here are some excerpts from my bills:

As you can see, the charging from 6th June to 19th June was very inconsistent, with one 3031KB session being charged £5.921 whereas a later session of 3029KB was charged £0.00!

"Credit Credit for Data calls in USA CR £17.64" appeared on my August bill which I assume is a result of the automatic refund faza20 mentioned?

Then, from around the 21st June onwards, the billing seems more consistent, being exactly 0.166 pence per KB. For example:

    21 June: 69.8p / 419.409KB = 0.166p/KB
    28 June: 506.7p / 3051.117KB = 0.166p/KB
    5 July: 119.2p / 717.379KB = 0.166p/KB

However, I was under the impression that I am supposed to be charged...
£1 for the first 0.5MB you use every day... [and] we’ll throw in a further 14.5MB – and it won’t cost you a penny. That means you get a generous 15MB a day for just £1.

So why am I being charged a flat rate of 0.166p per KB no matter how much data I've used? (And I've never gone over 15MB a day)

I rang Vodafone customer services and they said they've checked the bill and found nothing wrong! So I searched the web and found this thread so I'd thought I'd post and see if I can get it sorted out.

P.S. Sorry for the long post. :)
  • Have you tried contacting them by e-mail using the contact us section of the Vodafone website? Perhaps they would have more time to look through this for you than an advisor over the telephone would and you might get a positive result.
  • No, I haven't tried that yet, as I'm still waiting for them to call me back. But perhaps I will do that as at least then they'll have it in writing like you said and they'll have more information when (if) they call.
  • You think you have problems ?
I have just been hit with a bill for over £2000 for one month data in Indonesia.

I have used data access from vodafone for over 18 months overseas and have never been charged one penny for it - I spoke to their customer services people at the very beginning and they explained the charging , so I tried it gingerly to start with , and never once received a bill .

During a recent trip to Indonesia (I live here) I found that both my phones were barred - after much ado , customer services said that there were unbilled charges amounting to £380 , after many further emails and phone calls they then changed their minds and said that there were no unbilled charges , and gave me a credit of £20 - needless to say the only billing never worked either . I have just received a bill for 250 ish MB , totalling £2000 , and Vodafone think I am going to take this lying down , they obviously think I would have conitued to use the service after receiving notification that I was now being charged a huge amount of money for data , even after never once having billed for it . They seem to forget that they owe me a duty of care , and that their IP address is logged in many places , despite the fact they state catagorically that the phone has never been used for data abroad .

I have already received and offer of a 10% discount which has been raised to 20% as a final offer -

Captain - If you have used the phone in Indonesia before for data and never been charged, why would you start to get charged now? I know Vodafone don't offer any free data browsing or downloads abroad cos I asked that question and looked on their site in the summer. Are you sure you used it abroad for data download or traffic? Be careful you could be hit with a bill for data you should have been paying for over the 18 months you've been there!

If Vodafone can see the data has been used and the charging is in line with their tariff for using data abroad, then they have every right to charge you dont they? How can you dispute smething you know you've used? They are probably being quite generous offering you 20% even.

You said that the bill went from £380 to £2000? I know for a fact that data and calls/texts abroad can be delayed for over a month. Vodafone won't bill it to your account until the network you used abroad for the data has sent the charge and info from their network to Voda. It's likely that at the time you were told it was £380, this was info showing as £380 at that time but a load that had already been used just hadn't hit your account yet.

I once had a bill for over a grand and I wasn't happy. I new I'd used it so I paid the bill!
