Please can we have a Board for "Free items offered or wanted" people are giving away dont need any longer like freecycle does. we have alot of helpful boards including freebies etc would be nice to have a board with certain areas people can advertise something they no longer need and offer as free or free home needed for . its also a great way of meeting other mse users and i think would attract quite a few user's like on freecycle there are even people that swap cuttings/plants during summer this has saved me a fortune and the garden looks great.

Yes, these things can be fun until something goes wrong. If swapping freebies was allowed then people would want to start selling and then the trouble really starts.
As you say freecycle is out there for more or less everyone, as indeed there are other websites that allow buying and selling, however it is against MSE policy.0 -
Yes great idea, especially if there could be say sticky threads dedicated to either the counties or country areas (like SW, SE etc), where the items could be advertised, with no chit-chat* - just 100% advert postings
i.e. all negotiations done over PM's, and then the item advert-post removed by the author when given away :j0 -

I think that we should keep supporting freecycle, rather than try to re-invent the wheel. I post anything that needs to go to a good home there and also here at the Freebies board.
I had bunk beds going for free, posted all over the place in MSE forums, but nobody claimed them. In the end I needed the space, nobody wanted them anywhere else (shame, perfectly good condition, just needed mattresses) - they became firewood and kept us warm for most of last winter! I did not know about freecycle then.
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
if there isnt already one on here why not? it is both moneysaving and green to recycle and swap unwanted items that would otherwise end up on the rubbish tip."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

you would have a strict policy of no sales.
swap or recycle is a common sense idea!"enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -
Dont want to sound like a stick in the mud, but i tend to agree with Ed'lass, I'm not 100% sure if they still do it, but i know some councils, social services etc used to collect any good condition furniture etc for recycling to families without and domestic violence victims setting up new homes, worth a try calling them to see if you want to help someone out and need to get rid of stuff asap
