Some council services still do this, but if not the Yellow Pages can help. I wanted to get rid of a cabin bed my daughter had grown out of and, after phoning a couple of places in the Yellow Pages, I found an organisation that came to pick it up. I had to dismantle it first but as i'd put it up in the first place it was no problem.
I know we're talking about recycling/ giving stuff away, but I often put a free advertisement in one of the local newspaper through their online site and re-sell my unwanted stuff. I don't ask for much and get rid of my clutter.
The only concern I have with a recycling/ exchange forum is what about the possible pick up/ delivery costs and problems that may be encountered?0
