A day in the life of an Old Styler ...

... (yes, I know that "chattier" threads are very much discouraged, but I hope sharing our particularly "old style" geared days may help some of our newer members. If it's inappropriate, do please move to a more "chattier"/relevant forum. Cheers :D )

In the past 24hrs I have achieved:-
  • my daily 20 min whip round
  • Spring cleaned and reorganised one kitchen cupboard (pans/baking tins/plasi ware)
  • 4 loads of washing, line dried, (hm laundry powder)
  • turned 4prs of outgrown jeans into "shorts"
  • shopped only for "reduced" bargains
  • had a Bake-a-thon based on the reduced bargains, which includes:
1 x meatloaf for freezing
1 x chilli con carne for freezing
1 x savoury mince for freezing
1 x spag bol sauce for tonights supper
1 x orange icecream (from scratch)
1 x chocolate ice cream (from scratch)
1 x turkey drumstick (huge 700g for 50p!) making stock in crockpot, meat will be a pie (for freezing)
1 x syrup loaf
1 x vinegar cake
1 x cinnamon + sultanan loaf (cheers Squeaky! Yummy!)
1 x every day loaf
1 x batch of dough of Every Day biscuits (1/2 in fridge, 1/2 in freezer)
1 x large bowl of HM coleslaw
1 x jelly in the fridge to have with HM orange ice cream
  • weeded the garden and transplanted cuttings
  • sacked dh and bought a pig (sorry, that was wishful thinking only)
  • 3 rows on my rag rug
  • organised some *posh* carrier bags ready for teaching boys how to use them to make a mat (it will, eventually, go in the utility room for muddy footie boots!)
  • clipped out coupons from Sainsbury's mag (generic will be used in Asda/Tesco)
  • soaked in a bath of HM bath oils - LOL I needed it!
Who's next ....

Sheeeeesh I'm exhausted just reading all that Queenie

I've half washed up from yesterday, emptied the washing machine, cleaned and re-filled all water bowls for animals, cooked pasta and sauce for lunch and sat here on MSE between times ;)

Oh dear! You put me to shame. I've done practically nothing today. Ive been waiting for the postman to bring a parcel ( which has to be signed for )and i havnt been out of sight /earshot of the front door so as not to miss him.
I am feeling so bored and so lazy. Been surfing most of the time, but my eyes are cracking up now. the weather is great too, and I had hoped to get the back garden sorted out too. hope it stays fine tomorrow.

All I've managed today is to wash 1 load and wash hubby's sleeping bag, bake tomorrows loaf for kids pack-up and take middle son to the hospital to get his cast changed. Suppose I ought to get off here and light the fire or I'll have kids moaning that there's no hot water for their baths but someone keeps putting interesting threads on ;)

Thanks for that - always wondered what people did in their days.....however, like everyone else....I've done "not a lot" in comparison to that.....
