Weekly Flylady Thread 13th August 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Ok here goes this week!

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Level One
Clean floors
Level Two
Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Sort fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front

Wash the washer drawer out if it's gunky
Clean oven if you didn’t do it last week
Extra Mission
Choose one or more of:

  • Wipe the outside of all your small appliances
  • Clean out the freezer, I find the vacuum cleaner is good for getting up any crumbs in the bottom or stray peas etc. Defrost it if it needs it.
  • 27 fling, a good fling to start the week, less clutter less mess, well that's the theory anyway!
  • Clean any one cupboard, sort through what belongs in there, take out what doesn't and wipe before replacing

Extra Mission:
Pick one or more of the following tasks –
  • Clear one hotspot, or just spend at least 5 minutes tackling it
  • Spend 10 minutes clearing one storage area, anywhere in the house, cupboard, drawer, dumping ground, choice is yours
  • Clean windows in these rooms, or even just one
  • Using the idea Shirley suggested, get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be
Wednesday, Master Bedroom & Landing
Level 1
Check fire alarms are working
Vacuum floor in bedroom and on landing
Level 2
Remove bed linen and wash, replace with fresh
Clean window & wipe windowsill
Level 3
Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs
Vacuum mattress before replacing with fresh linen
Wipe doors and handles
Extra mission tasks
  • Wipe at least one door and it's frame, don't forget the handle
  • Dust skirting boards in any one room
  • Sort one clothes drawer or wardrobe area, even if for 5 minute, remove anything that shouldn't be there
  • Clean your vacuum cleaner out, get that hair off that brush, it'll improve it's performance aswell as being cleaner!
Thursday Bathroom and Study/Pc Area
Level One
Clear any clutter from desk
Level Two
Clear clutter from floor
Clean bath, toilet and sink
Dust PC and desk
Level Three
Vacuum/sweep and mop these rooms

Pick whichever you want to attempt
  • Clean windows in today's rooms
  • Clean any light fittings and switches in these rooms
  • Wash your bathroom mats
  • Sort your toiletries, flinging anything well past it's use by and those empty containers. Leave out what needs using first like the last bit of shower gel in a bottle etc.
Friday - those frightning Friday kids rooms and spare rooms

Level One

Vacuum the floor, even if it's just where you can get to

Level Two
Anything that isn't in it's place where it should be, clothes, toys, books etc
Level Three
Dusting
Strip beds and replace with fresh linen
Vacuum Floor (even if it's just where you can see)
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors
Extra Task List

As usual pick any one or more of the following if you fancy an extra challenge today and are still alive after entering the kids rooms!!
  • Dust tops of wardrobes & drawers if you can reach wthout hurting yourself
  • Time for the Friday Flylady Fling, aim for 27, if you can't find that many, well done, you are obviously making a difference
  • Sort through a kids wardrobe or drawer, part with what doesn't fit or well past it's used by
  • Clean any one (or more) window that needs doing

Apart from the dailies and night time routines that's the lot for the week, of course if you still want to join us over the weekend you are more than welcome

FRIDAY EXTRA - Don't forget your ME time this weekend, even if it's just a nice relaxing bath or catching up with an old friend, go on you deserve it :T

Well, I took so long writing this reply to the last thread, that the new one came up while I was writing, so I've taken the liberty of copying and pasting my post to this thread below:
      Evening everyone. :hello:

Hugs to all who need them - lil_me that must have been hard when Holly cried; still, at least you can still visit her, and I'm sure with time, she will grow just as attached to her new owners.

Wish I had a garden kazmeister. I've planned to make a courgette flan this coming weekend, and it would be so much easier if I had my own supply - it's funny, I used to hate courgettes when I was a child, and now I really like them. :D

Well, it's sort of been a productive day in some ways - my Mum noticed a sign outside our local pub advertising for part-time waiting staff, so plucked up the courage to go in and enquire (admittedly with OH), and the lady there took my details, and said that she would ring me tonight after she had spoken to her partner. :T Feeling a bit nervous about it all now though, as she still hasn't called, and the last time I did waitressing was 9 years ago! The bit I struggled with, was writing down a reference, and I had to explain that I'd been at uni for 4 years doing a psychology and then a teaching degree, so hope that hasn't put them off. I did say that I would be able to do as many hours as they needed as I was only walking distance away, so hopefully this will help. Will keep you all updated on this. Still haven't found out about that mystery job in cornwall yet - my Mum and I reckon that my Dad's friend probably just confused me with someone else. :rotfl:

Have the house to myself at the mo as OH is out at the shooting range til 9 and even the cat has had his dinner and gone out on the tiles, so think that I will get ready for bed now, as all the things I want to watch tonight are on terrestrial TV, so I can watch them in bed. :p

[strike]Will catch up with you all on the new thread when I track it down tomorrow. [/strike] :rotfl:

Sweet dreams everyone, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

      sexymouse xx

      I'm in!

      Full of good intentions! :rotfl:
One week left of school hollidays so I'm trying to get back into the swing of normal life.

      So tomorow!

      Kitchen!!!

      Clean the whole lot!
See how far I get. This weekend I opened one kitchen cabinet and found some flying beasty coming out of it..
So I whipped everything out of there and found a few open packages of oats, beans and flour. And the bugs had gotten into all of those.. YUCK!
      sigh

So chucked all that (what a shame) and cleaned out the cabinet. Which made me feel a whole lot better.
I'll be looking out for storage containers that can hold stuff like that to prevent bugs getting in. Any reccomendations?

Off to bed for now, and up bright and early tomorrow!!

      Becca
