Do you have to get mobile contract with Orange direct to qualify for free broadband?
Options
Hello all!
I currently have Orange broadband (£14.99) and have decided to get a new mobile contract with Orange.
On £30+ contracts, the broadband will be free.
Can anyone help me by telling me whether I need to get the new contract direct with Orange or can I go via an intermediary (e.g. The Link, Carphone Warehouse) to get the contract to qualify for free broadband.
Thank you.
Scotty

as far as i know you dont have to get a contract direct from orange b coz i got mine of an agent in london its a 40.00 cash back deal monthly.and i think they tell orange who then phone you or should phone you and ask you what you think of the new contract...........they should also ask you if you want free broadband like they asked me............but i heard that it has to be atleast 40.00 monthly not 30 ..............unless theyve changed their t n cs hope this helps0

Somewhat inaccurate replies so far...
I am on a £30 a month cashback deal through the CPW - 12 MONTH - phoned up orange and got free broadband, I've seen quite a few others on HUKD and here on MSE have got this too. It seems that even though orange say direct only and 18 month, the reality when phoning up the broadband dept is very different!!0 -
I signed up for an Orange contract thro https://www.thelink.co.uk and Orange rang me and offered me free BB, but I'm on 10mb NTL and could not offer these speeds0

im sorry if my information is not correct but i have heard the t&c's have changed and you have to be on £40 a month plz can someone enlighten me if thius is incorrect thanks0

Hello all!
I appreciate all your replies. Unfortunately, like yourselves, I'm more uncertain now than I was when I first asked the question!
I guess I could call Orange to ask but methinks they're likely to say you have to get the contract direct with them- makes more financial sense for them to get my business direct.
Has anyone else got comments or answers to this thread?
Thank you.

i would say it depends on whether you want to get a cashback deal.
if so, my personal experience is that you have to go through orange- we got an 18 month contract with a dealer precisely for the free broadband, it's £40 pcm but on full cashback. When i called orange they said that to qualify for free broadband i would have to 'renew' he contract with them from that day, which in principle i wouldn't have minded only it would have invalidated the whole cashback palava. In effect this means it is impossible to get the free broadband (if you're on a cashback deal) unless you go/ renew with orange directly. This all happened a just a couple of weeks ago. However, funnily enough i had tried to order the free broadband a couple of weeks prior to this and they had lost my MAC code, yet when making that order they didn't mention anything about renewing the contract with them...
Hope this helps, sorry for being confusing!0 -
you don't have to get it from orange direct. once you have your contract just ring up that day and request free broadband. 150 from the phone.
It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Yes although you have to start the contract again it doesn't effect the cashback as I have had 2 successful claims with CPW already. As already mentioned just ensure you phone up soon after taking out the mobile contract.0
