If it meant getting good technical support when I need it, I would be OK with it. Unfortunately, I think that's unlikely to happen.

How many times have you had to ring technical support in the past? You can get free help on here and on other forums/websites.

The question is, is this legal?

Supply of Goods Services Act 1982

As you are calling them because there is fault with there system. This is a premium rate number you are being charge so you can inform them that there is a fault on there network. Come again, they messed up and they want me to pay them to tell them, are they nuts.

Well it good to know that I can take them to court for the costs I have encored due to a fault on there network that was not my fault.

I see new wave of court case's happing like bank charges, support cost charges.

Don't get going about the issues about there website, trust me, watch this space something interesting is happing there.

Like you i dont see why we should pay for this service,we are already paying monthly for our broadband to work,so why do we now have to pay when it doesnt.I for one will not be using that number.

Very good point, I would recommend that people instead call Consumer Direct. And inform that that there isn't a way they you can make complaints because of 0906 number. As such you rights under Supply of Goods Services Act 1982 are being hindered.

PS Consumer Direct is funded by OFT and Trading Standards. If a lot of people start complaining via Consumer Direct and they will make it hard time Virgin Media.

Also look on Say No 0870 for a number for a number in your area.

Consumer Direct is designed to operate from our 0845 number, so we cannot guarantee connectivity, but under many circumstances these landline numbers will work correctly.

    East of England: 01438 737460
    East Midlands: 01522 563000
    London: 020 8799 9200
    North-East: 01642 495600
    North-West: 01229 842203
    Scotland: 01851822401
    South East: 01622 626520
    South West: 01209 720333
    Wales (English language): 02920 367800
    Wales (Welsh language): 02920 367801
    West Midlands: 02476 786610
    Yorkshire and the Humber: 0113 201 3670

Consumers who call Consumer Direct from a mobile phone are handled personally. We will offer to text a landline number to consumers who call us from a mobile phone, and who live in an area that is served by Consumer Direct, because calls from mobile phones to 0845 numbers can be much more expensive.

Ever heard of dial-up? Alternatively make use of a friend or relatives PC or go to the local library or cybercafe. All better than ringing an expensive technical support line, manned by script monkeys!
