  • Hi

At £469 (1 yr collect & return) this looks very tempting.

Not sure about the processor? Anyone any thoughts?

    Thanks

Boatman's links don't appear to be working.

    "We are having technical difficulties

We're sorry but the Online Store is temporarily inaccessible. The Store is undergoing routine maintenance or may be experiencing unexpected technical problems. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience as we work to correct the situation. Check back with us shortly.

While the Store may be down, Dell is still open for business. Please call 1-800-WWW-DELL to place your order or to inquire about a product of interest.

Please use your browser's "back" button to return to the previous page"

But if you go to the normal dell site https://www.dell.co.uk and then go to the Home section, you can then enter the e-value codes supplied by boatman. Remember to alter the Service Pack to 1 Yr Collect & Return, then update the price.

I've just had a look and it appears that they are offering free 720 printer. Is there a way of getting the 922 with the Inspiron 6000 please?

The links i put in earlier seem to work, but it took a couple of attempts.

The 922 printer is still free with the 6000 if you run down the options below the warranty section.

The most apparent difference is that one is a widescreen, beyond that you'd have to compare the spec, sockets/connections, wireless etc.

The 1.3ghz Celeron-M is basically a Pentium-M (with half the cache) and though it may be little slower it's fairly marginal. If you multiply the speed by 1.5 you get somewhere near the Pentium equivalent - this was for the older Pentium-M/Celeron-M line but I think this is the lastest version with 1mb/2mb cache although I expect the same thing applies. Personally I wouldn't go below a 1.5ghz Celeron-M when you can often get these at a similar price.

    Eval Code : 305 - N04601 for £469 has CD Writer and AIO 922.
    Eval Code : 305 - N04605 for £491 has DVD Writer and 720 Printer.

    Differences b/w 510M and 6000

    1) 6000 is heavier by about 0.6 Kg.
    2) 6000 has wider screen 15.4 compared to 15" of 510 M.
    3) 6000 has newer Centrino version. Read the 6000 Product Highlights.
    4) 6000 has an option of graphics card and new range of Wireless card.
    5) 6000 doesn't have serial and parallel ports and no IRDA also. I think they are obselte (or) rarely used.
    6) 6000 has 4 USB compared to 2 USBs in 510M.
    7) 6000 comes with 6-cell battery compared to 4-cell battery and also option of 9-cell battery.
