Simply Fone - now a Premium number!!!
Have been using Simply Fone's great offer for some time. Last time yesterday-13th April. It has always been a part of my free talktime on Orange YourPlan 120+120
Today, however, as I dialled Simply Fone's number a recorded message informed me that from now this number is a premium rate number.
I suppose Orange realized that many people were using this service and not paying them their hidiously expensive charges.

Hi Tomek
I also used Simply Fone's 07744 974333 number today to call overseas and yes it does say that the number is now Premium Rate! It sounds like the message is from Orange and not Simply Fone. At least it warns you that the call is Premium rate. I used 18866 through my mobile instead. If anyone knows any more about Simply Fone or other free calls using your Orange x network minutes please let us know as this was working great for me before. Thanks. Sarahummm..... ummm.....Damn! Can't think of anything remotely amusing, clever, witty or intelligent.0 -
steady on guys.................only a preminum number via orange! nothing to do with sf :
still works 4 me from my t-mobile & o2 -- so i'm still happy.0 -
I tried this from my work phone (landline) and I ALSO got the message saying that this is a premium rate number!! And yes, it did sound like an Orange message. That's really weird!!0

I got billed by orange for using this number (calls from 11/04) !!!
I called customer service and they promised me that this will be adjusted in my next bill. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.0 -
that's still a ripoff!0

ofcom stipulate 07744 is a mobile number Orange cannot charge you otherwise, complain to ofcom or let the networks walk over all of us ?
the choice is yoursIf I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
The terms and conditions of your Orange contract will say that Orange reserve the right to change the terms and conditions basically.
Orange don't charge for most 0800 numbers but they charge for calls to One-Tel even though it's an 0800 number... there's a recorded message saying you'll be charged when you call, although I think One-Tel have got other numbers you're able to use for free to get round this and they change periodically.
It's not in Orange's best interests (as a money making business) to allow free calls to be made to companies such as these... after all, when you call them Orange are technically losing money as there would be no benefit in you using them unless they were a cheaper option.0 -

correct the regulator allows the networks to charge to 0800 0845 and 0870 numbers, its a breach of thier licence to charge for a number issued as a mobile number that is included within your x cross network tariff allowance
07744 is a mobile number, stand up for your rights via ofcom, the home market was opened up for competition for the good of consumers, a mobile provider should allow the same choice, if you let them take it away from you without a fight then fool you
Saying that ofcom is a pure mess of absurdaties, our taxes pay for it but when it comes to enforcing fair practice they usually rule in a networks favour???
when it comes to tax funded services we sit back moaning and not complain to local councillers/mp's as its the british thing do do
if your not happy with anything you can contact an counciller/mp and ask for a parlimentary invesitgation by thier office
doing so is real power to the people, but most people cant be arsed, and indeed sit down and start moaning again, challenge authorities decisions you dont agree with, two majors for me are that ive took on social security and my local council through my counciller and had everything reversed in my favour (even after offical complaints went in and were internally investigated and both organisations ruled in thier favour), ive proved some high up people in civil service positions are truly incompetant at thier employment being unable to follow the law that governs thier decisions

All you Orange customers start complaining here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/advice/contact/telephony_complaint_query...and then the window licker said to me...0

I stand up for my rights when I see fit... I also manage to take out a contract on a mobile phone which satisfies all my needs without needing to resort to using other means.
I don't allow myself to be played but I also realise that businesses are infact businesses and not charities... I am completely happy with the service I receive from Orange but then I'm not trying to find cost cutting ways round certain charges as, like I have already said, I chose a tariff that suited my needs.0
