bought this camera for my fussy boyfriend who has everything (apart from a decent camera) and he loves it - great value - no shutter lag (not that you would notice anyway) and takes ages to run batteries out.
perhaps i should not be telling you this as i want one to be left in store for me tomorrow for my hols.0 -
Just phoned 3 different Asda's and finally found me one! Lovely girl has put it to one side and i'm picking it up in the morning! :T
Thanks for that!!!:beer:0 -
Friend at work after cheap camera - already got a Canon myself and will certainly be telling her about this one. Thanks added!0

I'm trying to locate one as I type - thank you to the OP0

I have had one of these for a while. The picture quality is excellent. The main thing that sets them apart is the versatility of the setup. You can alter virtually everything to get the effect that you want. I would say they would suit any wannabe photographer who wants to learn the art of photography on the cheap.0

Looks like it's 4x optical zoom!
Shame it's only 4mp, decent but behind by todays standards, but for the price... bargain.
Nice spot OP0 -
I have had the previous model (A400) for a couple of years. It takes great photos. Also uses commonly available SD cards (dirt cheap now) and standard rechargeable AA batteries.
Highly recommended if you can find it for this price.0 -
My siblings and I clubbed together to get one for our Dad on his 70th last year, it was then iirc about £120. He has been very very pleased with it, takes excellent pictures - only quibble is a slightly slow flash refresh.
I was so impressed I nearly bought one for myself, though in the end I got an Ixus 60 just because it is more pocketable.Joe

Thanks. Just picked one up. A530 was £89.00 but wasn't sure whether that was a big reduction or not0

4mp is more than enough, I reckon. Check this out.
I remember reading a couple of years back that packing more MPs onto smaller, consumer cameras could actually be detrimental: as the size of the CCD is limited by the size of the camera, you end up with "overlapping pixels", (or summink like that).
I had the 4mp A520 on my round-the-world trip and it produced some really excellent shots.0
