Anyone heard of the Motor Vehicle Protection Association
Options
There is a garage in Tullibody offering cheap fuel (approx. 35p a litre). There if a membership fee of £100 and you get a max of 50 litres a week when available. It says it was founded to "fund the research and development of a project to eliminate the emissions from internal combuston engines and to extend the miles per gallon fuel consumption of all vehicles by the fitting of a retro-fit device". They are aparently planning on having depots throught the UK.
I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about this because it sounds kinda interesting, assuming it works anyway.
Thanks if you can help

There's another thread somewhere on MSE. Google brings up nothing, so I'd tend to be suspicious.Happy chappy0

most people seem to think it's a scam, but it does look like they have a filling station so you'll have to decide whether it's worth it!0 -
Sounds fishy to me!0

This has to be a scam of some sort, if not actually illegal.
If you are putting a "liquid" fuel in your car, such as Mazola or Extra Virgin Olive Oil, you have to pay the appropriate taxes on it, which come to more than 35p a litre anyway !
Apart from which, anything which asks for £100 up front - dodgy !
But I am perfectly honest, if you send me £500 (in used fivers), I will tell you how to run your car for nothing.0 -
It still sounds very suspicious to me. Why the lack of google information?
A quick search on fuel prices:86.5p for Unleaded 95
Unleaded 95 duty per litre = 47.1p
VAT per litre = 12.9p
Total tax per litre = 60.0p.
Operating and material costs plus profit of filling station and fuel company = 26.5p.Happy chappy0 -
gdallas wrote:moonrakerz, try not to be so cynical. This is not a scam, far from it. And I AM A MEMBER! Summary of whats going on, YES its 35p a litre of diesel or petrol. Its actually only 25P but they add on 10p for everheads. Lights etc. I was speaking to the genius behind not 30 mins ago, ate the filing station full of fuel!!

If ma life in the Wee County has taught me anything, it is to get in quick and sign up. When the genieus who devised this scheme took over the garage it was already stocked up with 30,000 litres of fuel so what is being sold just now is perfectly legal as all taxes and duties have already been paid on it. I'm sure there willnay be a problem once they have to buy in lots of duty free fuel, and the current HMRC investigation will likely result in the scheme getting the official thumbs up allowing hunners of these places to open up accross the country. Gordon Broon will just need to find his taxes from elsewhere but i'm sure that'll no consern him ken LOL.The Original Wee County Neebur0

I'm spotting a pattern in the poor grammar and single figure post counts, all advocating this wonderful scheme.Happy chappy0

Our schools in the Wee County are famous ken for there exam records and I think that is reflected in here. I can see nothing wrong way the grammer. We're jist trying tay get across that this scheme isn't a fly-by-night, run by an alledged shady character, potentially liable to fall foul of HMRC, total scam to rip off folk in our sheltered community affair. It is legit according to my mate from Glen Ochil an that's good enough fur me as he knows hunners about this kind of stuff. The Original Wee County Neebur0
