Bradford & Bingley

I'm sure this question must've been asked but I can't find it anywhere on this huge site! I'm with Bradford and Bingley and have been charged £25 a go when a direct debit hasn't gone through. Can you tell me if I can reclaim charges from building societies please?

Thanks.

Yes, use exactly the same process for the banks/building societies.

    Good luck.

  • I wrote to the B&B requesting the refund of my bank charges plus the interest at 8%.

They sent me a letter on the 9th January informing me that they would get back with a response.

However, I recieved the following letter:-

    Dear Mr xxxx

When we contacted you on the 9th January we anticipated our investigations would be complete and you would have a full response from us by now.

This is not the case and I'm sorry we haven't been able to do this yet. You will hear from us within the next 20 working days.In the meantime, thank you for your continued patience.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

    Yours sincerely,

What are the parameters set out in them contacting me with a decision surely a months wait is too long?
  • Hi

I have recently been successfull reclaiming £951 from Alliance and Leicester thanks to this site.
I now want to claim from an old account i had with Bradford and Bingley it is a Timesaver account.
With it been a saving (basic) account does this matter? They hit me hard with charges 3 years ago and am wishing to claim this back..

Basically I am asking if its the same to reclaim from a Bradford and Bingley timesaver account?

    Thanks

    Jim

Exactly the same method, even if the account is now closed.

  • Bill, I'm very new to this site but it looks like you're in the same boat as me. I have sent my letter requesting statements today to Bradford and Bingley to the following address:

    Bradford & Bingley
    Data Protection Team H18
    PO Box 88
    Croft Road
    Crossflatts
    Bingley
    West Yorkshire
    BD16 2UA

I got the address from their website so hope it's the right one!

Like you, I'd love to hear if anyone else has been successful with B&B!

    Good luck,

  • Thanks for that address I have added it to the address list.
  • I sent the letter off to B&B asking for £1,070.00 charges plus £243.74 interest interest:eek: ! Received a letter today saying....

"Thank you for your letter of 26 Feb 2007 requesting a refund of the charges applied to your account. I am sorry you are unhappy and would like you to know that your complaint is being investigated through our Internal Complaints Procedure. A leaflet explaining how this works is enclosed for you. We aim to reply to you within the next 20 working days. If you would like to speak to our team in the meantime, you can call us on the number quoted at the top of this letter (01274 806726). Thank you for your patience."

A "nice " letter but hopefully not stalling for time - 20 days seems a long time?! I'm hoping and praying I can see this thing through to the end, it'd be great to be debt-free.

If I don't receive another reply from B&B in 14 days, is this when I write back informing that I'll be contacting the court? I think their wording has thrown me a bit! Any advice would be appreciated.
