ICESAVE Account

Hi. I've set up an account with ICESAVE - based on Martin's tips. I've given ICESAVE details of my nominated bank account via the online form and would appear to be able to transfer money FROM my ICESAVE account to the Halifax but can't seem to transfer money TO the ICESAVE account. What do I need to do? Please DON'T advise me to ring them. It's a nightmare getting through and they don't opperate a geographical number so I'm wasting money trying to get through to them! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

    i think you might find a geographical number on saynoto0870

    I called them and got through very easily, during the day a week or so back.

    Regarding how to transfer, logon to Halifax, setup a transfer to Icesave's account details (they should have given you the sort code and account number), and do it like that. You need to provide your Icesave account number as the reference for the transfer - as Icesave use a single nominee bank account.
    My policies are based not on some economics theory, but on things I and millions like me were brought up with: an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; live within your means; put by a nest egg for a rainy day; pay your bills on time; support the police - Margaret Thatcher.

    To move money to Icesave you need to login to Icesave and move the money TO Icesave from your nominated account.

    You can also setup a regular payment up as well to pull money to the account if you have a regular amount to move.

    {edit}
    When you logon to ICESAVE go into the Make a Transaction
    You should have a pull down box below "Which account would you like us to transfer money FROM?" Select your current account here. Mine by default shows my icesave account number and balance, but below that is my current account.

    The number on SAYNOTO0870 is not valid - I've tried it. I see no record of sort code and account numbers on ICESAVE - not in the FAQ's

    How long has your account been set up?

    Perhaps the DD with your linked account has not been set up yet so you don't get that option.

    Trouble is, IceSave explicitly states somewhere on their site that you may only use the "push" method of transferring money in for the initial deposit. All future deposits must be "pulled" by IceSave (i.e., Direct Debit from your linked account). I don't recall exactly where I saw this (probably the T&Cs).

    I know some people have had success "pushing" money to IceSave, but I think this has been down to goodwill on IceSave's part. It has possibly taken some manual effort on their side, and I would not expect it to work indefinitely.

    You need to wait for the DD instruction to be set up before you can 'pull' money in from your nominated account.

    In the meantime, you can call them and ask them for the sort code and 8 digit account number so you can make your initial deposit only* by BACS transfer ('pushing') from an external account.

    Someone on an earlier Icesave thread posted the Icesave sort code and account number. If you can't wait for the DD to be set up, you might want to search back through the (100's of) Icesave posts.

    * See condition 4a.

    ICESAVE Account No. is 80469947
    Sort Code is 20-32-53

    They also recommend that you quote the Ref No they gave you when you
    applied for the account. Otherwise payment may be returned to your Bank.
  • Whats the problem with not being able to 'push' money to them? Is it slower via direct debit and extra lost interest? I have an Icesave account and its now paying more then my Yorkshire e saver (5.10%) No word from Yorkshire on a move in rates so would it be worth moving it (18K) to Icesave, or is it too early after the rate rise to speculate?
