Where Is 18866 / 1899 ? Gone For Good?

Options
Hi there - this is my first post - so ho to everyone......i just tried to use both services and i couldnt use either...sometimes i would get a "number not recognised" message, other times an english language message saying service "temporarily unavailable" and other sometimes what seems to be a message in German (?) Earlier today both were working fine.....and i would think the problem was temporary if not for the fact that the freephone 0808 # they supply to remind customers of their customer number - does not seem to exist now. This would be terrible if these are no longer operate....does anyone have any more info? thanks to anyone who can help.

    Yep, I'm getting the same.

Also, TeleStunt, TeleDiscount, BudgetCom and CheapestCalls (all via 0844 numbers) seem to be down...

I just get a completely dead line.

Tried phoning BT to see if there was a problem routing the calls but they just told me to get in touch with the other provider. Seems very strange that all of them are not working...

I wonder if its nationwide? I'm in Worcestershire by the way...

Yeah, sometimes that German message comes, sometimes it doesn't.

Hope they sort this out soon...

Has anyone else tried the 0844 numbers?

I'm in Fife and getting the German message too.

I've had this happen before though, don't know why and can't understand the message but I assume it happens when their lines are busy. It should fix itself so I wouldn't worry about it (except the fact that if you really need to make the call you'll have to pay BT prices arrgh!

Hi all, have just registered a problem on the call18866 website - at least that still appears to e up, however I am very dissapointed they can't put a message on there to say that there are issues.

My parents called me this afternoon at about 3pm, and it worked then, but I just tried to call a few people this evening, from 7pm til just now, and I either get:

From 18866 'We do not yet offer calls to this destination' A Luton number!
Or from BT 'The number you are calling has not been recognised'
Or failing that - just silence.

Hopefully it is a general hitch, and will be rectified soon.

Would appreciate anyone posting as soon as they hear from a relevant provider, or make a successful call.

Can't be anything to do with weight of traffic then??

    Thanks

    Dan

Hi there - I'm getting the same (in Sussex) trying numbers all over the country.
I do hope it's not a sign of things to come as I have a cheesy grin each time I call someone and know BT aren't involved!!

    Has to.

Can someone else try calling these providers:

    CheapestCalls, 1p/min (08448611212)
    Telestunt, 4p/min (08444284242)
    Budgetcom, 4p/min (08444285285)
    Telesavers, 5p/min (08445666363)

to see if they're also having problems and that its not just me!

(No need to continue on and actually make a full call - just see if you can connect to any of those numbers)

Cheapest Calls & Budgetcom - got the message the number you have dialled has not been recognised.

Telestunt & Telesavers - engaged tone

Also tried to call a number using BT and got ringing tone, but hung up before they answered - they've just called me back (Very money saving :D )
