UPDATE 2010: Now see the full Amazon Buying tricks guide which includes the new Amazon Hidden Discount Finder Tool
Updated 21 Oct 2008 to reflect Amazon's rule changes
What’s the deal?
Amazon now requires a £5 minimum spend to get its free 'Supersaver' delivery, so if you’re just falling short of this amount you have to pay money for nothing. Yet there's a nifty little tool to help you make up the difference.
How does it work?
Simply go to the Amazon Filler Item Finder and enter the extra amount needed to get free shipping. You’ll then see a list of all the items with prices closest to the cost of the difference.
Buying more can save you cash!
Bizarrely, it’s often cheaper to buy something extra than buy nothing and pay hefty postage fees. For instance buy a hairdryer for £14 and you’d have to pay £5.88 P&P, a total of £19.88.
Yet a quick search on the Amazon Filler Finder reveals you could buy ‘Winnie-the-Pooh's Little Book of Wisdom’ for £1.25, taking you up to the £15 threshhold. Yet you'd only pay a total of £15.25 – saving £4.63 and getting a book into the bargain!
One thing to be careful of though, if you're using the marketplace sellers (third-party) usually this won't count towards the free delivery, so it's always worth checking.

Useful site but it seems like the lowest price it's throwing up is 80p? I always use this link if I need to bump up an order to £15 as the prices here start at 20p!

Looking at those top-up items i see some are on a 8-13 day delivery - so if the rest of your sub-£15 order is on immediate delivery plus the few extra days added for the free delivery service may mean that you have to wait a little longer for your order - so probably not best done closer to Christmas!0

Brilliant! I've spent ages in the past trawling Amazon for a cheapy item to take my order over £15 and usually spent far more than I needed to! Added the link to my bookmarks - this is SO useful!
Thanks.Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.
