Asda's coupon policy changes

Options
I, like my many others here have always enjoyed being able to use a few coupons and make a little saving every now and then when doing the weekly shop at Asda.

However, on my latest visit to the store when I handed over my weekly collection of coupons, the till bleeped and the cashier said she would have to call a supervisor. When I asked what was happening, she said the policy regarding coupons had changed and a supervisor now had to be called whevever coupons were used!. So I waited, in fact everyone in the queue waited, while the cashier sat there looking very embarrased by the situation, and eventually, myself, the whole queue, and the cashier, were all frantically looking around the place trying to find the illusive supervisor who was nowhere to be seen.

5 minutes later she turns up. So thats 5 minutes of my time wasted, the person behind me, and the person behind them.

And we are supposed to be endure this "experience" every week??

Needless to say I am now going to take my weekly shop elsewhere as the situation is beyond frustrating and a complete waste of time shopping anymore at Asda.

I have written to Asda, and would encourage everybody else to shop elsewhere and write to Asda to get this insane policy reversed.

I went shopping to my local asda (llandudno). they now only accept 10% of vouchers. I spent nearly £50 quid but they would only accept £4, even though the vouchers that I had were direct from the companies as I had made a compaint regarding their goods and the vouchers were to replace their default goods which I had purchased.

ive just been to local asda at metro centre today, spent £60 - they refused to accept asda coupons unless i bought the product and only allowed me to £2.50 of other coupons and a supervisor had to authorise it.

Its a crazy policy. With two toddlers in tow I can barely get them to stay put for 1 minute let alone 5 or 10minutes waiting for a supervisor to come over. What a joke.

ASDA for years has been 10% for Manufactures coupons I if not bought the products) and no redemption on ASDA coupons unless you ahve bought the product. It is 6 years since I worked there and it was that same policy then. I will check with my friend who is still a manager there and post back.

Yes it is true. The tills have been programmed to only accept 10% now, if you try more the message will come up calling for the supervisor.

  • Sorry but why do you think you should get money off your shopping, taking advantage of a manufacturers coupon when you havent bought the product?

Surely coupons are issues to try new products at a reduced cost

The supermarkets are happy to accept them so dont see the problem.
  • But it seems from this thread and others that they are less keen to do so.

I imagine this is due to abuse
