So far for my Christmas Hampers I have made...

So far I have made a big pile of bath bombs and a mountain of mini soaps, all different colours and fragrances. (I am covering costs by packaging them and selling some to friends!)
I have made 2 bottles of sloe gin and one of toffee vodka (that smells lethal!)
Tonight I am going to try to get to grips with my peg loom so that I can make rugs and things for people.
I am going to do Hot Chocolate Sets by buying cheap mugs, teaspoons that I can coat in chocolate and some yummy hot chocolate.
I have got a recipe for fudge waiting for a brave moment (my Gran loves fudge!).
I have also been putting together a calendar with all the familys faces in it - luckily birthdays and wedding anniversaries seem to happy once a month, not too many clashes!
I have found a medium size kilner jar in the cupboard just asking for some pickled eggs with chillis or something in it.
Any ideas for more things I can stick in my hampers?
Thanks

WOW - thats fabulous - I have so far had lots of good intentions ROFL
I have soap base to be done - would love to make bath bombs - do you have the recipe ??? are they easy to make - Love the lush ones !!
I have my mugs ready for the hot choc sets LOL am doing some chocolate spoons to go in them (long-handled ones 4pk £1 shop dipped in melted choclolate with crushed candy cane sprinkled on).
Am also doing calendars with base calendars from £1 shop.
So most things the same as you - will have a think though0 -
I would love to have a go at calendars and this is probably a stupid question but how would you do the calendars me being a thicko lmao0

I have done rumtopf, [STRIKE]rum [/STRIKE] BRANDY
raisins and raspberry vodka so far and will make some nice cushion covers for my little sister I still had some fake sheepskin and bought some satin for the other side. I will also make sweets again depending on when the baby comes and how I'll feel

How do you make toffee vodka? It sounds wonderful!!0

Toffee vodka.... take one bottle of vodka... pour a bit out of the bottle (I like to call this the chefs privilege!) Take a rolling pin to an unwrapped bag of Werthers Originals (or similar) and put them in the vodka. Shake bottle well and leave for a couple of days... hey presto... nothing left floating in bottle, and a lethal smelling drink!
Calendars... I am using this site... http://zmamgmwspro05-f.tay.hp.com/activitycenter/us/en/customizable/calendar_variety.jsp and hijacking a printer at work for it..
Bath Bombs... I got a kit but the method is:
3 parts Bicarb of Soda
1 part Citric acid... sieve and mix together
Add a few drops of colour and/or fragrance and mix well.
Mist a few drops of water into the mixture and mix again... keep adding small amounts of water until the mixture just stays together when squeezed (a bit like how pastry comes together but not so firm).
Put some of mixture in one half of a mould with a slight dome on the top... do same to other half of mould... put together and push really hard so they squish together. Take one half of mould off, remove excess from sides and then turn it over and tip bomb out... leave to dry for 24 hours.
I got the mould from a bath bomb type suppliers (plenty if you search google or ebay) but they need to be pretty firm plastic for when you are pushing it together.
Hope that helps!Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T0 -
Additions for the hampers - maybe a sponge/body scrub sort of thing - always nice to have a new sponge!!
A face pack/body pack - you know the 99p (or cheaper!! ) ones!
Manicure sets- they're normally quite cheap.
A nice lip balm - doesn't have to be mega expensive, but always handy to have!
Bubblebath.
As for food: cakes/biscuits... (got a few xmassy ones if anyone wants me to post them up, like fudges, coconut ice, biscuits... all sorts!!)Needing all the money I can for university!!0 -

No problem, I'll have to wait until I get home and check my trusty WI Cookbook, I'd hate to mess up the quantities. My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.
