Ticket to Paris with BBC what to wear mag [CLOSED]

http://www.whattowearmagazine.com/paris/tickets.html

free return ticket to Paris with 1.80 magazine

Insert from Martin:

I've not seen this particular offer directly, but wanted to put a general note in. Many of these type of 'free flight' offers have a couple of traditional catches it is worth being wary of.

1. You have to pay taxes and other surcharges (usually £10 to £20 each way)
2. You can only choose a selection of dates and it doesn't mean you'll get them.
3. You can't have two people from one family group doing the offer. This does mean you should still be able to do it as friends, but you may be given different days.
4. Often they mess up and you have to wait ages to actually get the trip.
5. You need travel insurance (don't get their's though see cheapest travel insurance article which includes how to get cheap insurance for a single trip)
Now by no means am i saying don't do it. Just beware, however for £1.80 its definitely worth the gamble it will pay off for you. Please do let us all know here how it goes.

One minor issue. Is this a return ticket, or do you have to find your own way home again? lol

Thanks for the info, littlelibrarylass. I'm going to move the thread over to the 'Quick! Grabbit!' board so that more people get a chance to see it. Thanks again. Jo. :)

    The original post states:

free return ticket to Paris with 1.80 magazine

The web site also says the same - sounds great.
  • Is there any kind of minimum/overnight stay required? or can you do a day trip out of this (subject to availability of course)

    Riz

    That is the catch.

As with the Samsung Free Flights promotion - you will not. They will go out of their way to ensure that you will not.

They will charge you £78 + taxes (probably two sets of taxes) which will mean you will pay more in total to fly when they say you can fly ... than you would if you flew a low cost carrier on the date and time that you wanted

Sorry to sound pessimistic but I've been bitten twice before by these sorts of offers (the Gallo wine was the other time) and they are really not worth pursuing

Just my opinion of course ....

And if yiou are a single traveller then these are probably GREAT !!
  • To be honest ..I get very angry with these offers where quite frankly they are insulting peoples intelligence..I mean look at this from the terms and conditions

"Airport and other taxes, passenger service charges, airline failure insurance and other surcharges levied by the airline or travel organiser are excluded and, where applicable, payable on confirmation. "

So basically this means could be anything from £1 - £1000 passenger service charge

    £1-£1000 "other Surcharges"

They know how much they will be before they publish so why don't they just state what it is..
