BT offering financial incentive to switch to paperless billing

I read in another thread in here that BT are to offer a 25p rebate on their bills to anyone who switches solely to onlinebilling but I can't find anything on BT.com about this.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Typically of BT convoluted websites, it took some finding but, for what it's worth, here you go.
Also, from the end of the year, all BT’s 16 million customers will be offered a 25p discount to their monthly line rental, if they opt to receive bills online.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

25p? That doesnt really sound that much to me - okay everylittle counts but am sure they could offer a bit more of an incentive!

The discount doesn't start until December/January and will be 25p/month (not per bill). You can change to online billing now or wait - the discount will be applied automatically once its started.

Its a darn sight better than the £1 extra that TalkTalk are going to charge their customers who don't switch to online billing.

And, from January, BT will be able to say that the rental on BT Together Option 1 is £10.75/month - sounds so much better than £11 too!

  • Thanks for the replies. I was particularly interested to know whether it was 25p per month or per quarter. As it seems to be per month I think that's a pretty fair offer by BT.

Postage and an envelope and a few printed invoice pages and inserted leaflets costs more than that, so they could afford to offer a bit more.

Yeah I think they could too. In the end all you are saving at 25 per month is £3 per year which doesnt really seem that great - I know every little helps but is it worth the hassle of just looking at it online - for an extra £3 per year you would get the bills in paper - meaning you wouldnt have to print them yourslef if you needed to have a paper copy

Think thats kind of fair - £6 per year is a useful saving and it probably does cost them that in sending out the monthly statements.

However something does need to be done with problems when applying for products where they normally ask for original documents, such as telephone bills. Will they accept printed versions in the future?

May need to re-do the maths here.
    12 x 25p = £3.00
