On Saturday I ordered a laptop to collect in store. I gave them three hours and when I got there I was told that the laptop I ordered was not available and that they'd offer me an alternative with a better spec. I specifically asked if it had a DVD rewriter and was assured that it did. Stupidly I accepted their word and took the laptop home and set it all up chucking away the packaging. It was only later I saw that it didn't have a DVD Rewriter and had only half the memory of the one I ordered. The laptop is advertised at the same price as the one I originally ordered so financially I haven't really lost out, but do feel pee'd that I was lied.
I don't think I can take it back as I've chucked the packing away, but I've just found that it's cheaper on Curry's website! Usually I do my research before buying a product, but this was a bit of a spontaneous buy so that'll teach me. Is there anything I can do?

Yeah. Take it back. The item was MISREPRESENTED to you. That is a clear breach of your contractual and consumer rights.0

I would take it back immediately. Just as an aside - did you have to pay online first or do you pay when you pick it up?Middlers0

Incidentally this must be part of their standard procedures - and so it should be - as when I ordered 2x 20 Imation DVD+RW x4speed discs @£5/pack last Thursday and went in to collect them Friday evening they didn't have them set aside and none to be found in the store. The assistant came back saying the manager had said to provide the next best item for the same price - which was 4x 10 Verbatim discs which he had to discount by 72% to match the price I'd reserved for collection at store. Mind you I did check the product packages to be sure I was getting the same spec.
Another hit to DSG's profits thanks to their flawed systems! (Something I'm pleased about after being right royally *ed around by Currys for 3 months earlier in the year.)0 -
