does the slicer actually result in saving money?

recently watched a demonstration for a slicer thing (can't remember name) where you get the veg/fruit, pick it up with guard and rub it over a grater and it slices it for. made of plastic and metal blades. not sure if they sell them in woollies. the man selling stuff said hotels use them and less waste than cutting with a knife. hotels slice things thinner so looks like you're getting more and they buy less. the demonstration was quite impressive- worth the money or waste of time? thanks

I can't get to grips with mine so it sits in the cupboard doing nothing. Mine is the JML V-slicer. Not sure if that is the same one you are thinking of.0

The V-slicer you mean? I have one and I can honestly say it is the best thing ever. Mine cost £12.50 from Studio though. I can dice onions in seconds with this thing and I never cry anymore
It is the one non-electrical gadget that I don't think I could do without especially as I have arthritis in my hands and can't grip and cut for very long.

I have recently bought a JML slicer but am having problems using it. I have found that the food falls off the spikes especially towards the end or else it gets stuck in the blades. Does anyone have any tips please?0

There will always be a last bit that won't go through, as for food sticking keep firm pressure on the plunger on the top.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Just don't drop it in the sink and then forget about it. I nearly lost the top of my finger that way. It was still a lost fingernail and 2 stitches though - and it blo*dy hurt!!!!
They don't actually use the same thing in hotels and restaurants - What they do use is a mandolin which is even more lethal - LOLNoli nothis permittere te terere

We got ours in Wollies for £9.99 and we love it! Worth every penny. A real time/effort saver.

I've just used mine to prepare the filling for the wraps I am taking tomorrow, I could never get tomatoes sliced that thinly without it, and those little juliennes of cucumber look so cuteOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
